Looking for Art

Gamer Life General Discussion

So I am looking for some art. I have a base class I am working on and illustration is always a boon.

So I am looking for a male resembling a mwangi or garundi and a monster or some otherworldly creature done by the same artist.

If one just happens to be turning into the other that would be all of the goodness.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I keep a folder on DeviantArt with sample artwork from artists who work on a commission basis. You could try looking thru there for artists whose general style you like, and then approach them with the particulars of the piece you are looking for.

Linkage: Commish Artists
NOTE: Depending on your settings, DeviantArt may be NSFW, and many of the commish artist do produce pin-up/cheesecake art to pay their bills.

You could make your own art with Daz Studio though it'll be 3D unless you get some cartoon/manga shaders for it.
The program and base content is free, everything else will cost some.

Thanks RHMG, not quite what I was thinking but thanks.

I had been hoping for some already extant work that I would ask permission to use. This isn't exactly a for profit project, but i'll look over the commission stuff just in case. Thanks :)

I know when I look for images for my characters, I could never find one that matched or it was non-existent.
Hence, why I picked up DAZ studio. As giving an artist a description might yield different results than you wanted, and each time you wanted a new character image it would cost you.
So as the saying goes, "If you want something done right, ya gotta do it yourself."

And it does look like the Base free version of DAZ does have one toon shader.

One thing that helps is to find a RealLife™ person whose face resembles your character and link the artist to said model. That's what I've done for the commissions of my own favorite character, and it's resulted in very good results even from different artists with very different techniques.

Additionally, I've found it helpful to list the details about my character's appearance separately from the actual scene that you have in mind. That way, it breaks things down in a manner that is easier to reference. While I tend to be very exacting in the details, I've met with good success so far without breaking the bank. If you are interested in the general "art order" format I use, I have no problem with anyone making use of it — just check the "Pages" section here. Heck, if you can help me refine it further, that would be awesome!

Good luck, and let us know if you find any cool artists to work with, or who are OK with giving you permission to reuse existing artwork — always love discovering new artists' work! :)
