Advance Class Guide Playtest and PF Society...How does it work?

As the title asks. How do you playtest/play classes from the Advance Class Guide playtest? Is there a perk you need to unlock to do it? Do you have to possesses at least one other character? Could I, for example, make my first PF society character an Arcanist, Shaman or Warpriest or not? Just wondering how this playtest works is all...

Hello, and welcome to PFS. One great page around here is the Additional Resources Page which gives information about what's legal and what's not from books outside the Core assumption.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Advanced Class Guide Playtest

All ten classes (Arcanist, Bloodrager, Brawler, Hunter, Investigator, Shaman, Skald, Slayer, Swashbuckler, and Warpriest), as they are released, are legal for play so long as you have a print or PDF version of the playtest document. We reserve the right to change, alter, modify, or outright disallow various functions of these classes, especially during the playtest, and players using these playtest options are expected to frequently monitor the Pathfinder Society messageboards for changes while playing these classes during the playtest. You will be forced to update your character—adjusting only the features that have changed, not rebuilding entirely—once the Pathfinder RPG Advanced Class Guide is released. We strongly encourage you to use your play experience to report on what works and doesn’t work with the playtest classes on their specific messageboards on paizo.com.

Arcanist: An arcanist does not receive the Scribe Scroll feat at 3rd level.

Investigator: An investigator is treated as an alchemist for the purpose of creating alchemical items and poisons.

Skald: A Skald does not receive the Scribe Scroll feat at 1st level.

So, for example, if you were going to make your first PFS character an Arcanist, you'd be expected to use the "revised" Arcanist presented on the boards, as opposed to the one in the first PDF.

Takesis, you need a printed copy of the advanced Class play test document. found here link. I think you can also bring a copy on your tablet/ laptop. What you really need to do is to be able to show the GM the rules you are using. Paper is often easiest.

I hope this helps

Will you be able to play that character all the way until the Official Supplement is released?(And then continue to once you buy it of course)

Ok, cool. I already have the playtest guide, but it is out of date in regards to the Arcanist. Since Arcanist is the class I'd be most interested in, would I have to print out the revision to the class posted here on the forums as well or can I just phone/tablet that?

Well on on the 25 I "replayed" a game with an arcanist and used the arcanist in the playtest document. On tuesday the 3td, i played with the revised rules. I printed out the revision from the post, forgot it on my desk, then while playing at the game store, looked up the post on my iphone, and used that. The GM, who is the local VC, was fine with that.

I hope this helps
