So, I'm making a video game of Rise of the Runelords. Nothing big and NOTHING that will be sold. The system I'm using allows me to assign a special ability to each character. The characters are a barbarian, a bard, a cleric, a fighter, a paladin, a ranger, a rogue and a wizard.
The barbarian obviously gets Rage, the bard gets Sing, pally gets Lay Hands, Rogue gets Sneak Attack and I'm giving fighter Power Attack. What should I give the wizard and ranger?

Its a turn-based RPG in the vein of the Final Fantasy games. I'm planning for every character to have a menu of "spells" they can access, only they wont be spells but rather feats and tricks. The cleric, wizard, paladin, ranger and bard get spells, the rogue gets talents, the barbarian gets rage powers and the fighter gets maneuvers. But the system also has a slot for special abilities not in a submenu. Every played Breath of Fire II? It's kind of like how the characters had abilities that could be used infinitely but didnt work 100% of the time.
The system I'm using is called the Official Hamster Republic RPG Creation Engine if anyone is familiar.
Favored enemy is good, I dont know why I hadnt thought of that. It could open to a submenu with different enemy types.

Are you using RPG Maker?

Sure, here's the wiki for the engine. It comes with a game, Vikings of Midgard, which provides graphics for user to cannibalize to get started. Which I'm doing, alogn with graphics form another game called Final Fantasy H. I'm a writer, I cant draw pixel art to save my life.
I've got it! Wizard gets cantrips, spells with weak effects that he can use infinitely! Though, tbh hes more of a sorcerer cuzz theres no way to do spell memorization.

So, here's the demo of the Mac version and Windows version of my game, taking you through the goblin assault at the beginning of Burnt Offerings. I can do a Linux version as well if need be.
I've reduced the characters to the "big4": cleric, fighter, rogue and wizard. In this demo only the fighter will be available.
As I put more work into it I'll upload each part as an update. IN THEORY that means you should be able to continue from your savegame instead of starting a new one. Although the next update will include the other characters so you may want to start over anyways.
Feel free to provide feedback. Unfortunately I wasn't able to really cling to the original material due to system constraints, so I'm going to basically just be using the fluff and as much crunch from Rise of the Runelords as I can from this point forward.

I wish they would make a Neverwinter Nights like game for Pathfinder where we had a builders client so we could make our own game worlds/servers. I would make a number of places based in Golarion. We did this with the original NWN for Faerun. Over at a roleplaying group called A Land Far Away.
They're too busy backing a Player vs. Player death feast in Pathfinder Online....

This would make my decade. I was pretty involved in the NWN community myself, though I started at a place called Realms of the Dragon Reach and later migrated to/helped start and now play on and off on The Cormyr/Dalelands Project (with a few other places scattered through the middle). I've met quite a few ex-ALFA folks over the years.
I know a lot of people who would pounce onto a game like this, if only to revamp those old NWN communities and bring new life into them, with the opportunity to rebuild those old worlds using PF mechanics and perhaps a more up-to-date game engine.
Sadly it does seem like PFO is the route they want to go with PF games at least for the moment, maybe in the future that'll change. PFO's non-optional PvP was the death knell for me in any interest in that particular game.

TBH, when they announced the main guy working on the Pathfinder Online game was from Eve I had a feeling PvP would play very heavily in the game.
As for NWN type gameplay..it would be awesome to see something like this, but I agree we probably wouldn't get to see it. Something to do with the Open Gaming license I think. Still, I would love to build certain sections of Golarion (especially Lands of the Linnorm Kings and the Shackles. I enjoyed building places like this for ALFA with Icewind Dale and The Pirate Islands.
