I was thinking as a way to add some interesting new builds I'd add a new rule to my table, I'd just like to see what the reaction is to better GMs than me:
what I was thinking is to allow conflicting archetypes at my table up to the level before the conflict. Once the character hits the level before the conflict, their progression in that class must stop. That's it. Pick another class.
As a small balancing measure these classes are also considered prestige classes for the +1 bonus skill/HP.
As an example, a Fighter would be able to take both the Archer and Brawler archetypes up to level 2, as they conflict on level 3 with Armor Training 1, and then they choose a class other than fighter.
Ideas? Opinions? Or am I being especially stupid?
