I was planning to introduce a new combat rule for my gaming group - If one's roll to hit is equal to the opponent's AC, they deal half the damage.

It would represent barely hitting the target, but in exchange they would know the target's AC.

What do you think?


IMO, bad idea. Martials can have a hard time as it is, making it worse is bad. Especially for those that have a hard time hitting.

Better in that case to let them deal half damage wheb they miss by just 1. But I dobt think it adds much variety at all; its mosly just a numerical effect rather than something theyll really feel.
