Accents (Extended ASCII) in Posts

Website Feedback

Just recently, letters with accents (such as ') have begun being converted to just single quotes upon posting. (Posts preview correctly.) Editing the post and replacing the ' with the desired letter "sticks", but this seems like odd (and undesirable) behavior.

Edit: You can see it in this post, actually, as I was hoping — now I'll edit in the actual character I mean; it's í.

Edit again: I haven't tested whether this happens with all extended ASCII.

That is weird. Do you remember when that changed?

Judging from my alias' posting history, it was sometime between 3:30pm yesterday (your time), and 8:30pm yesterday (your time).

Hmm... ' ë ™ ç

Okay, so tremas and cédilles work fine (at least one's that are put in through keyboard), but putting a circumflex over an o didn't.

How about å ä ö and æ ø ð & þ?

Interesting, so é also works fine. (Should be noted that Swedish keyboards have a button for inputting accents, no idea if that matters or not.)

'-ú

Hmm... so ú works fine, but the corresponding accented ó doesn't.

á é ' - ú
à è " ò ù
ä ë

• ö ü
â ê " ™ û
ã — õ

That should be:

Quote:

á é í ó ú

à è ì ò ù
ä ë ï ö ü
â ê î ô û
ã ñ õ

I think it's the difference between using the quick-post box at the bottom of a thread and the createNewPost page when editing/replying. Nope, reply got corrupted too. It's something different between creating a new post and editing it.

New test with í.

Yay, it worked!

Excellent. Glad this is fixed now.

à è ì ò ù
ä ë ï ö ü
â ê î ô û
ã ñ õ

Edit: Confirmed. Thanks!
