New Necromancer Spells for Way of the Wicked

I am starting the new AP Way of the Wicked and I have a player that is wanting to play a wizard necromancer. He was having trouble selecting spells and had one left over so I told him I would work up a new 1st level necromancer spell for him (just to give him a little bit of flavor and uniqueness). Well I have drawn a blank so I thought I would see if anyone had any ideas for a new 1st level wizard necromancy spell?? Any help would be great.

What kind of spell? Have you looked to other sources or refluffed current spells? Some thing like a bone wall, bone darts (or spear ala D2). Is he looking for buffs, debuffs, attack or defense? When I think Necromancy I think fear or undeath, how would you work those concepts into a first level spell that is balanced?


Well, here's one I just came up with. No idea if it'll suit the player, or if it's properly balanced for level 1.

School necromancy [evil]; Level cleric 1, sorcerer/wizard 1, witch 1
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S, M (a pinch of silver dust)
Range touch
Target corporeal creature touched
Duration 24 hours
Saving Throw Will negates; Spell Resistance yes

You infuse the target with a touch of negative energy, planting the seeds of undeath in its flesh. A target who dies while under the effects of this spell rises as a zombie 1d3 rounds later. You cannot create variant zombies using this spell. The zombie is not under your control, retains no memory of its former existence, and attacks the nearest living creature on rising.

Corrupt Mortality may be dispelled with Sanctify Corpse, even if the target is not dead.

I don't think it's entirely OP; maybe if it's available at level 2, perhaps? Either way, it's a great spell, and I would like to use this spell for a necromancer I'm coming up with.
