Hmm well that suggests a topic straight off Harad
War and feud declarations. How do we think they should work. I am not talking about the waging of war merely how settlements and companies enter into these states of conflict and how they can get out of them.
Sub topics should be items such as how long a lead time for these to take effect? Should there be different time scales for different setups? For example imagine when declaring a feud, there could be a choice of the surprise attack whereby the first the enemy know about it is when your forces fall on them (Pearl harbour), or the preannounced feud (think Britains declaration of war if germany invaded Poland from the second world war).
How about adding third parties to the war? Settlement A declares war on settlement B, settlement C comes along and offers to help settlement B. Are their reasons to include settlement C in the original war or should a completely separate war between B and A be started.
How about the concept of a ceasefire? The war declaration is temporarily put on hold and either side gets extra reputation and alignment hits for initiating action during the ceasefire. This might occur to allow negotiations to be achieved. For example settlement A is at war with settlement B. Settlement A has knocked down the walls of settlement B and is poised ready to wipe out the settlement. However settlement A does not actually want to destroy or take the settlement all they actually want is for settlement B to stop harbouring bandits who are using it as a base to attack settlement A. A ceasefire gives time for negotiation to take place whereas if the war continues it will only take an hour or two to reduce settlement B to smoking rubble

We keep opening new topics without knowing what the plan is. Then we go off on hypotheticals without knowing what the plan is. then we get invested in complex discussion of those hypotheticals (some more that 1000 along). Maybe the debs have a plan; maybe not. But, not knowing the innards, we are not competent to say that yellow-blue is better than green.

Lam,
If you go back to the original reason for the "Fresh Start" meetings, one of the purposes was to allow people to discuss ideas in real time and then post those collective ideas on the forum. True, we may not have much in the way of hard facts to discuss, but except for last evening, the discussions have been a productive outlet for idea crafting that might even be helpful to the devs. As shown in Harad's supplied recordings, we haven't attempted to say that any of our propositions are best, nor have I see anyone become so invested in these propositions as to bring it back here and treat them like gospel.
Note, I wouldn't say that the last portion of last evening's discussion was contentious, but it did mainly feature two players from diametrically opposing camps. Even then, the discussion was far less heated than on the boards, which, if you look at the original post of this thread, was also one of the reasons for the "Fresh Start" discussions.
In short, people who have participated have seemed to enjoy the get-together and no one seems to have put too much stock in the product, except the product of a more civil discussion.

Hobs (or Jobs as my spell-check would prefer!) is 100% on the ball. Play the ball not the player.
Talk and exchange. If you see an idea you think it is worth sticking your kneck out for on a rare occasion back it up with your best shot! Aka "insistence". :)
For eg Bluddwulf has gone up in my estimation with his consistency (I'll avoid the temptation of saying "consistently wrong" as a sort of personal jibe!) and overall expanding discussion. GJ.

With all that is going on in the Settlement Alignment Distribution about war I think the war and feud declarations topic as ZenPagan presented would be on target. I do suggest a 3 pm EST Saturday start with an hour of discussion for the recording. The discussion can continue after that but I have dinner plans for the evening.
