Liberty's Edge

The "When closing" instructions say "Succeed at a Divine 6 check or banish a Blessing.
My question is can I try a Divine check and if I miss then banish a Blessing? Or do I have to choose, and if I choose the check and I miss then I fail to close the location?

I have been playing as choose what to do first and if you fail the check you have to go through the complete location deck first before getting another try. Assuming there are no other henchmen or a villain in that location.

We play this like Magabeus: choose, then follow through, and if you fail, you can't choose the other option.

Agreed. You choose one, if you fail you have to wait until another chance to close the location (e.g. exploring the last card).

This is not explicit in the rules, and needs to be added to the FAQ:

Anytime you're offered a choice of checks to attempt, you must make the choice before you make the attempt, and if you fail the attempt, you cannot attempt the other.

Now it is added to the FAQ.
