Forgotten realms Regions

Conversions

I am converting the regions to pathfinder. My idea is to take the old 3.0 forgotten realms handbook and replace region feats with thematically similar traits. However i cant find allot of the equivalents. Anyone willing to help tackle this would be greatly appreciated.

This is how i plan on doing it.

Region
The area in question.

Languages
Additional languages added to the characters list of bonus languages.

Trait
Traits common to that area.

Common Equipment
Equipment and weapons common to the area. People from that area treat exotic weapons in this category as martial weapons. (same idea as race based exotic weapons)

Any help or idea would be much loved.

well thanks for all the input dudes. :P

I just imported FR's region concept whole-sale to my FR-based PF games (taking them from Player's Guide to FR), only converting where necessary. For example, the Street Smart feat's Gather Information bonus became a Diplomacy bonus instead.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

We play PF in the Realms, too. I just see no need for such a lot of work. Decide case by case what traits are appropriate for a character. Likewise with certain feats. E.g. typical region for dervish dancers could be Turmish (among others). Cliff-Master trait for people from the Swordcoast, etc.

Yup. 3.5 Realms is mostly compatible, even d20 modern stuff too! In fact, nothing stopped me from both into a Pathfinder game. The players weren't really aware, since it was the same OGL based d20 system basically

campaign spoilers:
Long story short, Lantan fled below the ocean similar to Rapture from BioShock.

(though some tinkered was needed. Like I created homebrew traits taking some inspiration from Region feats from 3.5 and Regional backgrounds in 4th edition. There isn't really that much to share, just 4 traits that are decently balanced.)

Shadow Lodge

Many of the 3.5 Region feats were stronger than normal feats. Because of that, I don't think they'd make very good traits. IMC, I give my players the option of the normal 2 traits or one Regional feat. They almost always take the Regional feat, even at the cost of two traits.

Not trying to emulate the feats exactly. I'm trying to figure which traits fit the regions.

get the Inner Sea Primer, even the PDF works, take the traits from there and match them up with the Forgotten Realms regions accordingly. that should do it, and its pretty cheap (7.99 pdf, 11.99 book) its in the player companion line of books
