"What a great idea, Patrick. I mean, it's pretty obvious, since it makes everyone's life a lot easier. Sure, it'll be pretty low on the to do list, but we have heard your request and filed it away for the future."
"Why thanks, guys! It's always great to hear that you are so open to user feedback to improve your software."

Sorry, that was in no way supposed to be a criticism!
I love the idea of being able to search for posts of a main username and incorporating the posts made by aliases of that username.
However, I think that is best as an option because ...
1) there will be less confusion if the main search function remains as it is now - folks who want to utilize the increased post search can opt to do so, folks who don't want it don't need to do anything
2) there are times when having all posts come up in a search is desirable (main username and aliases) and times when it is not desirable. Forcing this proposed new method of post searching on everyone all the time would be seen as an issue for some folks, I'm sure.
One example, just off the top of my head: if I search posts (or click the Posts tab) for a certain username, what happens if that person happens to be involved in one or more play by post games using a character alias. That would mean in addition to actual posts, I would also get all of his in-game, in-character posts which I would then have to sift through.
Like I said, I wasn't poo pooing your idea. In fact, there are times when I would LOVE to have that option. There are other times when I definitely do NOT want the posts of aliases coming up and would be pretty inconvenienced if this were the only way to search.
So, GREAT idea if offered as an option; not so great if it just becomes the new normal method.
