Basic Blessings Question

This is probably a very basic question.

Does a blessing card add the die AND the modifier?

For example, I'm making a melee check with Valeros so my die would be a 1d10 + 3. If a blessing adds "1 die to a check," does it just add another 1d10 or is it another 1d10 + 3 (becoming 2d10 + 6)?

No, just the die.

And just to be clear, it only adds the die from the base check. So if you naturally roll 1D6 + 2, then you add a card to add +1D8, and then you play the blessing, you add one extra D6.

Correct, a blessing only adds one die to the unmodified skill die on your character card.

Of course certain blessings add two die if the skill being used matches one of the requirements for the check.
