New version of Everquest is going to be coming out next year. Some very cool ideas they are implementing into the new game like destructible terrain and buildings. It will be set in an alternate universe so the lore will be totally different from past games. Also, one thing worth noting is a different version called Everquest Landmark will be coming out later THIS year which will allow players to build (like Minecraft) houses, gear, and a lot more which can be ported over to the real game when it is released.

We have any previous EQ players here on the forums? I played EQ1 for over 5 yrs and played a bit of EQ2. Went on from there to many different MMO's.

Meh I played EQ1 & 2 through to Uber Guild end raid content.
Not sure why I would care about destroying terrain, unless it was pretty specific and was possible to use it in shaping encounters etc.
Sadly other MMO's just seemed to be EQ on Easy mode and didn't keep my attention (though did end game WoW LoTR AoC amongst others - but struggling to see what EQN might bring to the table to bring me back.
Grinding, medding, LFG? EverCraft? Hmmm....

Probably another game that wouldn't run on my current computer.
Playing Lord Of The Rings Online is hard with all that lagging despite setting everything to minimum.
Time will show if I will be able to change to better configuration next year...
Man i loved LOTRO, until they made it pay to win. Then i stopped playing. There were kids running around with highest tier gear that their daddies bought them with real money, while we spent hours upon hours grinding bosses for that same gear.

Played EQ1 from release date through to beta for DAoC. That was the best MMO to date. I have played many other MMO since then and most are just plain disappointing. I played EVE for a short while and it leaves me with zero interest in Pathfinder Online. Instead I am looking forward to Star Citizen. I will keep half an eye on EQ Next to see what comes out of it.

I played EQ2 for about 5 years. I think EQN looks interesting, but I'm not too happy about rebooting the lore.
I think I'll try Elder scrolls online, Pathfinder online and EQN and decide if any of them is worth sticking with.
The destructable terrain seemed to be a useful feature, and it certainly sounded interesting that you in theory could dig a hole in the ground anywhere in the world and make an enterance to the dungeons or caverns below.

Got the invite for the beta.....
Went to sign up, couldn't remember account details. requested account name, got it in email. requested account password, got a password reset email. password reset also requires answer to security question, in which all possible variations of one word don't work.
Thanks but, no thanks sony. I'm not desperate enough to jump through that many hoops for you.

I started playing soon after it went F2P. I managed to hit 85 just a few days ago. A year hiatus due to computer failure before I got replacement capable of running it at all didn't help. I haven't seen real problems with pay to win but I am not participating in raid content at all and only a bit in instances.

I played EQ with family when I was younger mostly for the social aspect. I did not care that much for the game itself. I tend to be a story and character based player so I really enjoyed Star Wars The Old Republic and Rift respectively.
I like the graphics and destructive terrain nature of EqNext. However, the procedurely generation stuff reminds me too much of random ecounters (ala meaningless encounters for loot & xp). Still, I am likely to play around with the editor (EQ Landmark) later this year.
