It's often a problem that melee characters have trouble getting into range to do their meleeing. One of the cases where is most pronounced and likely to happen is in seafaring campaign. In a ship to ship battle and the ranged types have something to do but the melee types need to use a dusty bow that they arn't that good in.
I was thinking of making 2 new items
1. A cannon that can shot a normal size party member at the other ship. Anyone have any rules that I might be able to work with to build that? The considerations are cost, range and how much is will hurt the shot party mender.
2. A cannon that can shot a normal size party member at the other ship and also casts feather fly on them so they take no damage. The considerations are cost, range.
I'm not in a sea faring game at the moment, but I am ever hopeful. Can anyone give some good ideas?
I'm thinking about making an invulnerable rager that makes use of this tactic or maybe a monk.

so many spells can do this. telekinetic charge replicates it perfectly. a lvl 4 wand costs 21000 gp (or half if you craft it your self).
some sort of staff might work, but its cost is weird.
if you can get a GM to let you craft a staff of 1 spell, it might be about 11k (yeah ive never made a staff so i could be doing it wrong). It is probably better to get the wand.

I'm trying to do this as cheaply as possible so it can be done as low level as possible. I figure a mundane catapult or cannon is cheaper then a magic item of telekinetic charge.
ok, the jump spell with a high CL.
or a glider
or pets to carry you (like direbats).
if you are low level you wont survive being catapulted. featherfall's effect would be completely up to the GM.

I dont think the feather fall one would work, have you ever tried throwing a feather? It don't work as well as it should. I could see the dude landing 10-15 ft in front of the cannon/catapult, likely in the water between the ships.
Give them some other jobs to do, like help the NPC on there ship and then base the NPC damage off that. I.E. carry cannon balls for the NPCs, the faster they get them there the more damage is done...
