Rider of War

Homebrew and House Rules

Okay, so I'm currently creating a character for a campaign and I'm having trouble. The basic premise is Togen Hendry was a young orphan and a tiefling, and he was commonly abused by the townspeople. Eventually, he got fed up with it and decided to make a pact with one of the very forces of the apocalypse (the horseman, War). Since then, he's become a high ranking officer in War's army, gotten a wife and child, and saved a lot of lives.

As a Rider of War, he gains access to a mount, a bonded weapon, and magic. The thing is, I have to create a custom class for this, and I'm having trouble with the mechanics of it. Currently, I'm thinking he would cast spells as a cleric (I'm unsure if I should also have domains, or just pretend the domain slots are normal slots, or even pick the spells to fit the theme), have an aura similar to that of a cleric's, and treat his mount as if it were an animal companion. I'm tending towards Fort and Will as good saves, proficiency in simple weapons and his deity's favored weapon (in this case a full blade) as well as medium BAB progression. Past that, I'm clueless.

In concept, he rides an intelligent, giant dire badger (mostly because it's the only way to have a large badger), can call his giant sword (specifically a full blade)to his side, and make it burst into flames (the sword, not the badger, though maybe as a higher level ability). I'm also thinking that the sword and/or the mount act as the holy symbol.

Also, in this campaign's world, the horsemen of the apocalypse are a little different (namely in that there are seven). Luckily, War stays pretty similar (excepting the fullblade as a favored weapon, and not having a name other than his title).

I've already scoured the internet, but I can't find anything, so any ideas? This campaign starts at 3rd level as well, so if the only balanced way to do this is to take up a feat or X amount of gold, or if one of these iconic abilities doesn't come until then, it's okay.
