I know there was a big thread about this regarding the Amulet of Mighty Fists. If you purchased one at the earlier, higher price you got a refund on your next Chronicle sheet. I've never noticed price changes on other items. Which staff are you referring to?
Most staves printed in I believe the Advanced Player's Guide were listed at half the price they should be. Look in the Additional Resources for this quote:
Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Advanced Player's Guide
...
Equipment: All staves in Chapter 7 are not legal for play from this source. If you purchased these prior to Aug. 16, 2012, they are grandfathered into the campaign.

Edit: Unless you're a sorcerer with that spell. Yeah, that's it. That must be what you were doing. My bad. :0
Nah, bonded item FTW. Screw familiars. ;)

So agree!
I have an 7th level Sorcerer (non-PFS) with a bonded ring and everyone tells me I should have gotten a familiar.
I prefer the additional spell and the ability to enchant my ring. :)
