Wingbind
School Evocation[Force]; Level Sorcerer/Wizard 4, Bard 5, Magus 5, Summoner 5
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Effect One creature
Duration 1 round/level (D)
Saving Throw Reflex negates; Spell Resistance yes

A web of force surrounds the target, entanging it like a net. If the target fails the saving throw it is entangled. The creature cannot used its wings to fly, giving the spell its name. A creature using wings to fly falls immediately if entangled by wingbind
An entangled creature can escape with a successful Escape Artist check against the DC of the spell. Like a wall of force, the web of force is impervious to most attacks. This includes damage of all kinds, Strength checks, and most spells (including dispel magic). Like a wall of force the web is destroyed by any of the following: disintegrate, rod of cancellation, sphere of anihilation, mage's disjunction.

This is a fun spell from 3E. If I remember correctly in 2E it was 3rd level for dragons, and 9th level for non-dragons. Here is a variant:

Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance no

The caster level listed is for dragon casters, it becomes a 9th level spell for non-dragons (and thus unavailable for the bard, magus, and summoner).

The variant is very powerful if you allow the half-dragon template or if a PC gains the dragon type through a prestige class.
