This is something I've been thinking about doing since we decided to put Sandpoint in the Beginner Box in the first place.
It's not on the schedule, it's not something I've even really discussed with folks, but it's a damn good idea.

As a long time GM who has run quite a few Beginner Box demos for new players and at local gaming conventions, I can assure you a box set like this would be greatly appreciated.
Right now info on Sandpoint is scattered all over the place amongst different product lines, maps, minis, pawns AND wiki pages. Having it all in one place is well worth paying for!
It will make for a great "Sandbox" style campaign for new GMs, wont cut into your existing product lines, you have new PF Minis on this region just announced, it works with existing ROTRL material, and it gives you the chance to add new "pre-made" 1st level sheets for the Barbarian, Paladin, Ranger, Sorcerer and Druid PCs, to add the Fighter, Cleric, Rogue and Wizard from the BB.

PS: If you can somehow tie this into your upcoming PF VTT, or make it useable for existing VTTs, even better.

This is an awesome idea... I imagine that from a marketing perspective, the issue might be how to make this a player's product instead (or in addition to) a GM product. For paizo to make a decision to produce a product, the sales numbers need to be solid. player products sell about 4 times as much as GM products (as an owner from my FLGS explained to me)....
So... in addition to GM material... a box with a player focus may make the difference in sales. Again, the BB did so many things right, player book, GM book, pre gens, pawns, battle mat....
I imagine player resources as:
Pawns (of townfolk and particular npc's)
Dice
Poster map of sandpoint
Poster map of hinterlands
Poster map of varisia
Pre gen characters
Character sheets
A list of sandpoint rumors every one knows after living there several days
A booklet of npc's
Another battle mat
A small booklet with the already generated sanpoint info (basically all of the stuff in the RotRL anniversary edition plus some of the stuff from other AP's.
A sturdy box that is labled and designed for carrying all of a player' stuff. maybe even making the box a playable surface like with the DnD tiles boxes.
Maybe throw in 1 prepainted mini? non random and different... (bad idea?)
Playable grids (like in the pathfinder comics) of several locations
GM centered content (with warning for players to not read like the BB):
one 32 page booklet for the GM with juicier rumors that you have to dig for and 5 side trek style adventures. including grid posters of notable locations in town that can be blown up and photocopied....
Anyhow... I know that gamemastery sold a product that was nothing but a box! it looked cool and was designed for holding your stuff! I think that makikng a player centric box would help GM's out soooo much bc players would have some maps to look at outside of the game, have rumors and pictures to look at outside the game, and maybe would arrive with all of their stuff bundled in a box.... the boxes could serve as buildings and playable surfaces (with a few extra pawns and battlemats to boot!)
What do you guys think? is this thinking wrong? maybe this is too much for one reasonably priced product ($40?).

Using the Beginner Box as a template I would expect there to be two booklets, a flip mat, 4 large sheets, and 3 sheets of pawns. I'd think one booklet should be a detailed town guide with the second booklet being a series of 4 adventures for levels 2-5. Personally I'd put in two flip mats and drop the large sheets. Then each adventure could have it's own map. I would imagine the pawns having one sheet for townsfolk and two for monsters.
That's how I imagine it anyways. ^_^
That NPC list is pretty snazzy.
There are 57 NPCs are listed on that page.
Some already have full body art but not all.
Not all of those would necessarily be pawnified.
There are 28 medium pawns on a standard sheet.
28 townsfolk seem like a reasonable selection to me.
So assuming one sheet of townsfolk. which 28 mediums would you pick?
It occurs to me that doing pawns for every sandpoint NPC would serve an incredible niche.
For starters, there's always a dearth of NPC representation on battle maps when a fight inevitably breaks out in town.
For people who run Rise of the Runelords, well. Let's not spoiler.
But it would be a great feature of a Sandpoint box to run a battle in town now and then (it happens to all game towns) and when something happens to an NPC, that's a specific person that the players know! Always! Because the Pawns are the populace.
It occurs to me that doing pawns for every sandpoint NPC would serve an incredible niche.
I'd buy that box !!!

Further development of Sandpoint is on hold until James Jacobs can work up the right combination of willpower and free time to write it. Sandpoint is his baby, so as much as I'd like to publish a product like this, I won't do it without James.
Right now, at least, that means it's not happening. Who knows what the future could bring, though?

Erik said that he would love to do it, but couldn't do it without you.
I would LOVE to do something like this. It's also something I would love to do all on my own. Which means that timing its creation to match up with my already pretty busy schedule is tricky.
At this point, I've got my freelance time tied up through the next several months for products that'll be releasing in a year. Using that as a metric, a big Sandpoint book or box or whatever wouldn't be something I would expect to see this year or next at all.

(sigh) someone find James Jacobs and give him whatever he wants to write this box set. I would pay in advance on a kickstarter or pre-order or whatever. love the idea. please Paizo...make it so. I ran RotRL as an original subscriber and I would love to introduce more new players to the game with a Sandpoint Box Set.

Yes, so much potential. The setting reminds me of the old Keep on the boderlands. Even a half dozen dungeons with back story would be awesome and could be published as a campaign for the BB.

I would certainly support a Kickstarter for this and would likely buy at least two copies when it released. (Pity this won't be out next week when I start RotRL...)

I would rather see more modules and materials supporting the BB. Though a nice idea you waited too long for implementation of this idea.

I'm currently running the beginner box campaign with two experienced PCs and two inexperienced ones. I am in the process of building scenarios for each of the rumors and hooks listed in the Game Master's Guide. I really am doing a lot of research to get a full picture of Sandpoint by looking in RoTRL and Jade Regent AP and such. What I would love to see with this idea of the Sandpoint box set is:
All the Sandpoint and NPC info in one place!
Fully written adventures, maybe a couple for each hook suggestion in BB,
one being for a 1st or 2nd level group and the other being for a 3rd or 4th level group.
Battlemaps for all of the above!
Pawns for the NPC's, the monsters wouldn't be necessary as they have plenty of those out already.
Next, I would like to see a box set for each of the aforementioned cities, maybe starting out with Magnimar which would have the town and NPC information and fully written adventures for about 10 hooks that would still be a couple for each hook one adventure being levels 5-7 for the hook and the other adventure for each hook being level 8-10. I would suggest that they add hooks and maps for adventures from levels 1-5 but not write out full adventures for them. The last bit, just in case some group wants to take off to a new city before the GM was ready and thus derailing him haha.
Finally, if Paizo could then go on around Varisia maybe Korvosa next with the same format as above, but uping the level to 10-15 on the fully written and supplied adventures and with suggested hooks from levels 1-10. This time only adding the additional maps for the level 5-10 hooks.
All this can be done with Varisia and then move on to the other regions doing a similar thing. I think it would be huge and help a ton of us busy GMs out. :-)
Anyways, it sure is fun to dream.

If a Sandpoint box isn't announced at PaizoCon 2015, then the begging can once again begin in earnest.
Yeah, I'd pay a ton of money for this. It'd be such a great entry point into Golarion as a DM or a player. Here's hoping everyone finds the time for it sometime soon!
I've had a lot of success GMing RotRL so far (my players love Hosk) thanks in large part to the details of Sandpoint in the back of the hardcover. I would buy a Sandpoint Box Set the week it came out. I have only been playing for three or four years but in my opinion, Sandpoint is the perfect starter town.

Still after all of these years I would still be the one to buy into this, if and when it came out! Who knows when James will have the free time to work on this though. :(
