The Nature of Names.

So, a curious question has arisen, while I have been sitting at work.
I have a character in PFS, that started out as Sel. As Sel has progressed, his name has progressed, and now that he is at 7th level, his name is Selketith. When he advances to 8th level, his name will change once again, to something new, I'm looking at (I had thought of using Sels, for the start of self, but I digress for why.)
Will this be a problem with record sheets?

Kinda, yeah. I have no idea what issues it'll cause with reporting games in the system, but it'll undoubtedly cause GMs to stop to figure out what's going on if they ever take a look at your chronicle sheets.

That said, the name you put for your character on the chronicle sheets doesn't have to be the same name you go by when playing. I'd recommend continuing to use the same name on the sheets, but use whatever name you want when introducing yourself.

Actually, I would put in the name change under Conditions Gained each time the PC starts going by a new version of the name...

Your name can be whatever you want it to be. If a GM is auditing you and wants to know why the name on your chronicles changes, tell them you changed the name.

It helps that this is actually what happened.

Also, one thing that I have seen are fairly odd names -- such as names based on Robin Hood and his Merry Men or the Three Stooges. (My personal explanation -- some names may be short for something else, have different meanings, or some names may have inadvertently been imported from elsewhere by the random traveler. )

However, I think kinevon's suggestion is a sound one as a name change can be critical in some cultures. Also, it helps for characters who operate under multiple aliases.
