I have a question about where I can buy a certain item for miniature modeling.
I love buying and preparing and painting my own miniatures, and making sure I have exactly what I want is key. So I will often remove/replace certain things about the mini such as weapons and the like.
My question, is there a website or place where I could buy "bits" for metal miniatures? I know about reaper. Specifically I am looking for weapons that have magical effects on them, such as lightning arcing off the blade, or fire flowing etc etc.
Many single miniatures have these effects on them but I would hate to buy a whole mini just to chop the sword off for use on a different mini.
Any help would be appreciated!

Yes, you can buy separate items for miniature conversions (although I'm not sure whether the things you're specifically looking for are that easy to find).
However, I would suggest you ask the question in the miniature section of the boards.

I know you said you know about Reaper, but have you checked their Boneyard? It's a bit of a mess to dig through, but that's where they sell the various bits and pieces. You might be able to find what you're looking for with enough patience.

I would echo both Ivan's suggestion about Reaper's Boneyard (as well as all their accessory packs) and Caineach's suggestion to learn to do stuff with greenstuff, which may actually save you time and money in the long run. If you're already doing conversions on that minute a level, you're going to want to end up having greenstuff and sculpting tools on hand anyway (you can get a set of wax carvers cheap from Amazon and elsewhere).
Specifically for weapons with magical effects on them, I would buy one of one of Reaper's many weapons packs and then use a quick application of greenstuff to add your special effects--it wouldn't even require a great amount of skill (patience, perhaps).
For example, while this is not a weapon, I sculpted the fireball in the sorcerer's hand here. It would be as easy if not easier to put a similar effect along a blade. (This is old work with bad photography, so please excuse.)
My OTHER suggestion would be to check eBay and check with Warhammer fantasy players -- many of them keep bitz boxes, and I wouldn't be surprised if some heavy collectors sold off some of the bitz from time to time. Like this, for an example. (This is just an example, I know nothing about this seller.)

http://www.armorcast.com/store/index.php?cPath=100 Armorcast does cinematic effects for guns. Not aware of any for fantasy minis.
