So I just recently thought of this rather quick and dirty way of getting humanoid animals of all shapes and colors into Pathfinder.
Hybrids are humanoids or animals that through powerful magic or alchemical substances have had their physiology crossed with the other type, resulting in an anthropomorphic animal.
The hybrid template works exactly as the lycanthrope template with the following changes:
The hybrid template is an acquired or inherited template that can be added to any humanoid. It can be acquired by animals as well, in such a case, the humanoid is still treated as the base creature, and unless the base creature has racial hit dice the hybrid will automatically have one level of Commoner. It can then retrain this level to any other class without retraining cost and gain new levels as a humanoid.
Challenge rating: same as base creature +1. +2 if the hybrid is larger than the base creature.
Size and type: The creature does not gain the shapechanger subtype, instead it becomes a monstrous humanoid. The base animal can be larger or smaller than withing one size category of the base creature, however if it is, the creature changes size categories one step towards the base animal. For example a human (medium) bat (diminutive) hybrid would become small, while a dwarf (medium) elephant (huge) hybrid would become large. All changes to abilities, skills, natural armor etc. relating to size changes apply.
Defensive Abilities: The hybrid does not gain damage reduction, unless from the base creature or animal.
Special attacks: The hybrid does not gain the Change Shape and Curse of Lycanthropy abilities. It is always automatically in hybrid form, and remains in that form even after death.
The effects of hybridization are permanent and cannot be removed with a remove disease or heal spell. A hybrid that acquired the template can be restored to its original form only with a miracle or wish spell.
