FRONTIERS: Elder Scrolls inspired exploration game on Kickstarter

(Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this message, hopefully the mods will move the post if it's not.)

Hello, everyone!

I'm working on an open-world exploration CRPG called FRONTIERS. It's currently on Kickstarter, click here to check it out.

'Pathfinder' was just brought to my attention over at the campaign, and after reading up on it I have a feeling FRONTIERS will be right up your alley.

In FRONTIERS you're a member of the Pathfinder's Guild, whose present-day purpose is to create and maintain paths & roads for trade & travel between the regions of the world. But in its glory days the Guild aimed to explore NEW regions and uncover the secrets of the Uncharted Lands. You play a character caught in the tension between the old and the new in an epic central quest that spans an entire continent.

There's not a lot of depth to the RPG elements (at least not compared to a tabletop game), and it's not high fantasy, but if you're into exploration you'll have a ton of fun with it.

Thanks for reading, I hope you'll check it out!

So is this a Pathfinder compatible product?

Well, no. It's just really similar thematically and I thought folks would get a kick out of it. A Pathfinder player brought it up over at the campaign so I dropped in to let people know.

(If I'm in the wrong place let me know and I'll remove the post, I don't want to be spammy.)

Oh hey! The post has been moved. Perfect, thanks.

There you go! We get these kind of threads in the 3pp section. That section is for 3rd party compatible products.

I just found the time to watch the Kickstarter video. My wife asked me what I was watching; I described it; and she replied, "Wow, that is right up your alley."

(That's what she said with her mouth. Her eyes said, "This is going to be one of those games you play for hours on end, isn't it?")

Anyway, the game actually is kind of related to Pathfinder. Frontiers has a Pathfinder Guild, and to be honest, I'm surprised there's not some sort of a copyright violation. Careful.

But you've got yourself a backer. Anyone else who likes the exploration aspect of first-person games should definitely check this out. And anyone with a different forum avatar, too.

Um, there can't be a copyright violation. And it's not related to Pathfinder unless it either uses the Patfinder rules (which it can't because the rules are pretty much owned by Wizards of the Coast, and they don't let anyone get away with that), or if it's happening in Golarion, which it isn't.
The world having a Pathfinder guild is a coincidence. It's very probable that people making the game never heard about Pathfinder RPG.

Looks great - I'm in.

19 hours to go and nearly 300% funded, if anyone wants in. Very close to the final stretch goal.

Darn it, wish I'd seen this before paying all the bills this month. I'll keep an eye out for it!

For anyone who didn't support the game on the Kickstarter, but still wants to support it (or is just interested, even):

Quote:

Hello, everyone - on March 30th FRONTIERS will be going live on Steam Greenlight! (Don't know what the heck Steam Greenlight is? Click here.)

And I need your help. I plan to distribute the game on GOG and Humble Bundle as well, but getting on Steam is my number one priority right now. Why? Because Steam's free tools will help me to distribute and rapidly patch the pre-release beta. The beta is a massive undertaking, and every minute I don't spend packaging and distributing and wrangling the next build is another minute spent squashing bugs and balancing gameplay.

Here's the Plan

Remember how much we kicked ass on Kickstarter? A big part of that was the early influx of backers. That pushed us into the top ranks, which generated interest, which kept us in the top ranks. I want to pull the same trick with Greenlight, which is why I'm doing a pre-announcement. If every backer with a Steam account plus even a fraction of the 10,000 from the Steam Concepts page votes YES on the FIRST DAY it ought to raise a few eyebrows.

In other words, the plan is lots of votes really fast. IT'S JUST CRAZY ENOUGH TO WORK.

Media gods willing I might even be able to swing a bit of press. In the meantime, you can help by telling everyone you know who might even have a passing interest in FRONTIERS (and a Steam account) to get ready to vote. I aim for a quick, decisive victory!
