Caution: The following idea makes fun of the political views of every American ever, even the dead ones. And that's the point!
Imagine, if you will, a megadungeon like no other. It is, in essence, a construct, thousands upon thousands of feet tall, depicting a rather severe man with an enormous top hat. This construct systematically stops at the edge of a settlement, hordes of minions clad in red and blue storm out, and the settlement is taken off the map overnight.
Understandably, something this bizarre has the major powers of the world particularly nervous, even moreso after one of the realm's master wizards was simply squashed by the thing. A more subtle approach is necessary. Perhaps you?
The Dungeon of American Politics is a thoroughly ridiculous idea that places the party inside a miles-high construct in the shape of Uncle Sam as it shambles around converting the good people of our stereotypical feudalist nation into Republicans and Democrats. Inside, the party meets some of the heavy hitters of American politics in reverse chronological order, including:
Barack Obama - LORD OF CHANGE, evil mastermind Dick Cheney and his mindless servitor golem Bush, rambling lecturer Al Gore, Bill Clinton and his harem of succubi, Richard Nixon, senator Joseph McCarthy (of red scare fame), Theodore Roosevelt and his excessively oversized greatclub, and even George Washington himself (who will polymorph his foes into cherry trees and then take an axe to them).
The entire concept is to be silly, irreverent, and give every opinionated nerd out there the chance to vent his frustrations about whatever bit of the political system he doesn't like by doing horrible things to their representations; however, this is a megadungeon. Support will be in place for those who simply want to get drunk and beat up some politicians. Support will also be in place for those who want to make the battle against Howard Dean and his sonic scream attack an epic one indeed.
I pose the following questions.
1: Do I go with it? Is this something you would want to see?
2: Is a megadungeon excessive and something you can run in a few sessions would be more your style for something of this sort?
3: Would episodic releases be preferable to waiting for the entire monstrosity?
Looking forward to the answers - your support is what makes the hamster wheels keep turning around here!

5 hours immediately after Memorial Day weekend is not much of a window for a reply. ;)
Suggestion: If you are going to go in reverse chronological order, the megadungeon / serial chapters would get pretty entertaining as the PCs encounter political parties besides Dems and 'pubs.
To answer your questions:
Q1: Do I go with it? Is this something you would want to see?
A: I think this would be entertaining as a satirical exercise.
Q2: Is a megadungeon excessive and something you can run in a few sessions would be more your style for something of this sort?
A: Either format could work.
Q3: Would episodic releases be preferable to waiting for the entire monstrosity?
A: A "serialized political parody" would probably work better and give more time for the historical chapters to be given decent research. Some chapters/episodes could be larger than others, depending on your outline.
