I just came up with an idea for a campaign setting, and I'm wondering if you guys can help me flesh it out thematically and mechanically.
The idea is a sort of cooperative storytelling experience, that may or may not have the standard Gm/player dynamic. Everyone involved will come up with a list of locations/quests/npcs and maybe prepare those themselves or let the GM prepare them based on their suggestions. players would start off as a group of characters centered around a fire, or a light, or something similar to that. It's a small area, with paths leading off to various directions. Beyond them is a primordial chaos, and they themselves may have been birthed from it, or it may be a dream. Anyway, each character is fully formed with memory of his past and they each have their own understanding of this world and they think everyone else has the same understanding.
They form together and head off down one of the paths and there will be some way (probably some sort of check) that will make one of the characters "see" what is beyond the fog of chaos. That player will be able to tell the party what is beyond and from there they will travel to one of the locales the players created.
I'm thinking of using the Plot Twist and the Plot Twist: Backstories decks for this too, and have players play a card or play a hero point to "take control" of the creation of the setting
what do you think of this? Any suggestions or comments?
