I'm not seeing the word "ugly" anywhere on the daughter of Urgathoa entry on page 309 of the Inner Sea World Guide.
Are you sure?! Like, absolutely certain? Have you ruled out that someone at the printer might have used invisible ink to conceal "^ ugly" in the text of page 309 of the ISWG? You better double check! Lives are at sta--
...Sorry, my agent has just informed me that my conspiracy theory doesn't even remotely make sense. I'll be in my trailer if anyone needs me.

I think OP is talking more about how the Daughters are described as having lower bodies made of ruptured and trailing intestines and other such nastiness. Admittedly most of their art examples tend to play that aspect down to the point that you really can't tell what their lower bodies are supposed to be, specifically.
I'm torn on it honestly, because I think there's certainly room for an even sharper contrast between the Daughters more pleasant features and the OH GOD parts, but I'm also in no rush for Pathfinder artwork to start looking like Cannibal Corpse album covers.
Looking at you, LotFP.
There's probably a nice medium between those extremes somewhere. :)

"The Pallid Princess sometimes rewards female clerics who serve her particularly well by transforming them into hideous undead creatures called daughters of Urgathoa." (Gods and Magic 40)
Huh, looking at Inner SEa, they don't say anything about being ugly or hideous. The word "Monstrosity" is used, though.
And as for having trailing entrails, the daughter on the page has a transparent dress with a whispy, ghostly lower body.

Yeah. The description in the Inner Sea World Guide says... "What was once a woman now towers as a monstrosity of ectoplasmic flesh, horns, and a tremendous scythelike claw"
Nothing about entrails are mentioned. I think some of you are thinking of the picture of Urgathoa herself on page 41 of Gods and Magic.

I'm thinking of their original description from Crimson Throne, IIRC. It's been a while though.
The fact that said description was written well before the art came in and adjusted their intended look (for the better, I think) is telling.
The description in Inner Sea World Guide is the official one.

Ah, one of the cases of art shaping the setting? :)
Can't remember where I read it. It was an interview of some kind, that said, mostly--artists in the industry tend to auto-draw female characters as beautiful unless given specific direction otherwise.
Unless you poke at them, and sometimes even then...it's an unintentional habit.
This might've been one of those unintentional cases.
...in either case, I'll be switching to more of a pallid and undeathly look. It suits.

(like green-haired Shalelu! ;) )
Ugh. I'd hoped we'd left that error in the past. Especially since she's been illustrated like 5 times, but it's only the art from the least-popular AP she's been in out of the 3 that anyone seems to remember.

If it's any consolation, a lot of Second Darkness' art still stands out as some of my favorites in the series, from one of the coolest "paladin-appropriate" character designs to the one that made me a huge-fan-of/really-uncomfortable-about Golarin's ghouls. :)
And then there's that T-rex vs. Froghemoth painting...
