Ethnicities by Country?

I'm wondering, have we ever seen a list of ethnicities by country for Golarion?

As an example, of which ethnicity are people of Nirmathas likely to be? The Inner Sea World Guide lists that Common and Varisian are widely spoken in that country, so, does that imply the people are Varisians? Or are they Chelaxian as the country once belonged to Cheliax?

I think a table of prevalent ethnicities per country would be a very useful thing to have.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

There's a modified Golarion map which shows the human ethnic pattern, but it's on my laptop (I'm not at home at the moment). I got it from the Internet, so you might be able to Google it, or send me a PM and I'll email it to you (assuming it's not too big! It's a pretty sizeable map!)

You can work backwards - the nations don't list human ethnicities, but the ethnicities do list common regions.

According to the Inner Sea World Guide under the human ethnicities, Chelaxians, Taldans, & Varisians are common in the country.

Thanks for the tips, Also, it seems Humans of Golarion has some more infomation.

Nidal and Shadowtongue (official language of both Nidal and it's largest city, the port of Nisroch) by far predate Chelish or even Taldane as countries/languages, so I would say that Nidalese is definitely it's own ethnicity.
It has been a 'vassal' of Cheliax more recently, but that doesn't seem to have changed much, with the Nidalese nobility maintaining continuity. The Chelish/Common language has risen in usage, and especially in border/port areas a few citizens may be more Chelish than Nidalese (along with other residents of foreign extraction), but I don't believe any large-scale population transfers ever took place.
That said, many outsiders may not be particular familiar with Nidal or able to distinguish Nidalese from Chelish, especially if they aren't strongly distinct in physical form and tend to be fluent in Common of the Chelish accent.
The actual origin or nature of the Nidalese ethnicity isn't totally clear itself, it plausibly could be another Azlanti hybrid derivate (based on it's linguistic similarities to Azlanti, but those could be adopted by proximity, not inheritance), like Chelish/Taldan is a Azlanti/Kelesh or Garundi/Ulfen hybrid. If Cheliax is Spain-Italy, then Nidal might be Basque.
