No More Kickstarters

Off-Topic Discussions

Oh my gosh, If I see one more band wagon kick starter for give me money for my lame idea because someone else got a ton of money, I'm going to be ill.
There really should be a rule against posting Kick starters on this board, its like Pan handling, or at least has degenerated to such.

Sovereign Court

Its panhandling don't give me a bad rep!

Maybe there should be a separate section for (k)ickstarters so it would be easy to close it and avoid them at all?

Silver Crusade

Pan, your reputation, or lack thereof, will I suspect remain intact. ;)

I agree that there are a lot of Kickstarter projects. Are they "worthy"? I don't know. I don't think that's up to just me to decide. The decision is made by the donors. All of 'em.

Personally I avoid the posts that are obviously Kickstarter related. No sense in getting myself riled up if I can help it.

Then use your damn hide thread button.

Seriously. I don't give them money either, but so what? I'm not going to ask people not to talk about them.

Nor are Paizo going to censor people by prohibiting them from posting threads about it. Banning other subjects has come up in the past and Paizo has always been flatly against it, unless it is either illegal or deliberate spam.

"Dude, you got a dollar?" would be panhandling.

"Dude, would you be willing to kick in some cash on this project I plan on supporting / am planning on putting out and get some stuff in return?" is really more sales related.

For the record, I have no issues with KS, as I have backed several projects and have been pretty happy with the majority of what I have backed.

I've backed a couple and I'm fine with them being discussed. I'm not going to give more or less money to any given KS because they do, or don't have a thread. As others have pointed out above, they are easy to ignore if you're not interested. Kind of like alignment threads or Paladin / Rogue / Monk threads... just don't go there if they bother you.

I find the Kickstarter site horrible to navigate. The serious problem is FINDING the damn things. As I recall, most of the threads about KS have been pretty clearly titled as such, and besides, there haven't been THAT many. If there is an awesome idea for a KS project, I am quite interested in hearing about it. Even if I don't usually choose to back them.

No it really isn't like panhandling. And who the hell are *you* to be telling people what they can and can't post? No one is forcing you to click on those threads, buddy.

I always love when some butthurt geek gets bent out of shape by nonsense like this. Grow up.

As Sissyl said, considering how easy it is to miss cool KS stuff, I personally welcome the information.

Besides, how many of those have been posted? I rarely see them pop up.

I'd also prefer the cool and interesting things got shared... I found out about Reaper Bones from these boards and it was the sale of the century, I am very thankfull the info was shared. I completely get what you are saying though, and perhaps a KS thread could be whacked under '3rd party' stuff or something.

Assuming the kickstarter is gaming related why is it a problem exactly? Its just like posting about the newest fantasy book, or 3rd party product you like. While i dont like every kickstarter that has come out, I have supported a few and think its a great way to handle certain kinds of projects. And if it gets somethings (like reaper's bones lines) off the ground faster then it would have, all the better.
