I have a PC in my group I'm running and the player really likes his character. So he is playing a variant android who doesn't need to sleep and is a ninja. Anyway he became the cook's assistant and buttered up the crew a bit by serving shark stakes (he fought a shark head on and won with a critical hit, lucky), and eventually decided to sway scourge, but Scourge used his gift to get the crew to start distrusting him.
Then he decides to sneak into the Officer's quarters when the storm started up and he almost go away with assassinating Scourge when Peppery rolled a natch on her perception and woke up. Now, thanks to the fact that he's one of the only crew members wet from being outside, he's on a list of suspects to keel haul. (I forgot to mention he had to go outside to get to the officer's quarters, so oops on my part, I gave other suspects to throw the officers off the trail)
He proposed to Scourge that he and the other likely candidate fight to the death to prove loyalty to the crew or something like that.
Of course the officers are hostile to the PCs and want any excuse to get rid of them, but he likes the character and I like the character, what do you think we should do? Just have him keel hauled and hope for the best? I mean he did scrape off some barnacles for dinner one time, so maybe it'll do less damage...?

the spell Ice Armor would let him survive a Keel haul quite well if the object damage rules are used and the armor is used as an impromptu wedge between the ninja and horrible barnacle death.
That seems to be a cleric spell.
I wonder who on the ship happens to be a pirate cleric of the seas that might have a bone to pick with scourge. Mayhap this red headed female might prove useful.

spell is from one of the Paizo adventure books, kinda squirreled away in the back.
Ice Armor spell.
Basic trick, cast the spell and hurl the newly made breastplate into the ocean. when keelhauled grab onto the breastplate and use the object damage rules that divide most non-elemental damage to an object in half.
At maximum roll a Fast or a slow keelhaul deals 36 damage, against an object that is 18. At that point all your gunslinger needs to fret over is surviving the drowning rules.

While a ninja may be appropriate for some campaigns, not exactly a good fit for a pirate, but still a legitimate character I suppose, but an android?
As for the ice armor, the breastplate may survive the keelhauling, but the character will still take the damage.
How can a ninja not be appropriate for s&s? a sneaky guy who sneaks around and slits throats? Sounds like a perfect fit to me.

Ninja I can see but an android? Does seem a little overpowered for the first book of the path to me.
Immune to disease, exhaustion, fatique along with +4 bonus for poison saves? That kind of says that it won't suffer from the rum ration, daliy job roles will not have any effect and the island (swarms)is going to be a complete cake walk for it...
I can't see any drawbacks for the race so yes I would consider it to be a tad overpowered for this game.
The stat block in the innersea bestiary has no mention of how the thing is powered or what its made of which is kind of vague to me. Metal of somekind? Seawater corrodes it a bit?
Personally as a GM I would have said yes to the Ninja but no to the android race.

I couldn't pass up on someone playing a ROBOT NINJA PIRATE
if I can make him undead somehow, he can be a ZOMBIE ROBOT NINJA PIRATE
Yeah he's a bit powerful against the stuff like fatigue and stuff, and often sucks up to the officers by working the bilges at night, but he's fun to run and the player loves the character

he survived ? great, let's keelhaul again ! Somebody kill a few chickens too, and drop them overboard.... look, what a beautiful Megalodon !
the pirate code is..... yes, more like "guidelines".... Since when is Harrigan supposed to be fair or nice ? Or is there some sort of Apellate Court for fantasy pirates ?
Or have him dragged behind the ship on a long chain leash and have some guts spilled to catch some seamonster. Permachain him to the main anchor as a sort of "protective anchor guard". Amputate his legs and arms and pickle him in Rum.That way he might even sell well in some harbour lateron.....
anyone protesting ? Another volunteer ! *facepalm*
or.... omg... bind him to some ballast stones and drop the offending thing overboard in no less than two-hundred fathoms ! It will be frekking hard to even have a clue where the Wormwood sailed too.....The player overplayed his hand, so some sufferance is due !

All I can say Mavrickindigo is that if you have no problem with the character, then do what you think sounds fair (and change a few dice rolls) and allow him to live. While I do somewhat agree that this is an interesting character selection for this AP, he is not in my group, and I am not GM of his group, so you do what you feel is necessary.

I have a question..
Why in the hell was Scourge sleeping during a storm? All hands are supposed to be on deck, in the rigging, fighting the storm. Everyone from the cook to the first mate.
The only two people that would be exempt, in my opinion, would be Harrigan and Peppery. The former would be steering, the latter would be helping (Sailing Master, anyone?)
An Android.. would certainly have a few things above other players, but I wouldn't call them too overpowered. Nor an Android Ninja, even if its hard pressed to fit into the campaign.
Scourge should be whipped to the bone for sleeping during a storm.. :\
