Hobgoblins as playable races

Does anyone know if their are any plans to allow Hobgoblins as playable characters in pfs either through a boon or a flat add in like tieflings, aasimar, or tengu have received?

Golarion hobgoblins make Charles Manson look like a pleasant gentleman to enjoy a drive out in the country with, so I really, really doubt this will ever happen.

Yeah, it appears that the predominantly-evil humanoid races are going to be extremely rare, if not non-existent, as PC races in PFS (see the extremely-limted goblin boons from last year's GenCon).

Silver Crusade 3/5

Very unlikely I reckon.

That's upsetting, i mean we can play tieflings, half-orcs, and half-drow without issue even though many of them have some incredibly evil backgrounds floating around in their history yet we cannot run hobgoblins. It also seems odd since in everything I've read they are usually portrayed as the most civil and orderly of all the evil races and are usually quite willing to work with other so long as they adhere to/respect their strictures. They even have the nation of Kaoling in Tian Xia that they have controlled for the better part of a century so I would imagine they could work with the pathfinders should they be given the inclination.

Half-Drow are not legal for PFS:

Half-Elves: all alernate racial traits except drow-blooded and drow magic are legal for play; all racial subtypes except drow-descended are legal for play; all favored class options are legal for play; all racial archetypes except wild caller are legal for play. For the bonded witch archetype, energy siege shot is replaced with resounding shot (Advanced Player's Guide 238) at 10th level and arcane cannon is replaced with fire brand (Advanced Player's Guide 222) at 14th level under the bonded item weapon entry; all half-elven equipment, magic items, and spells are legal for play; all half-elven feats except Half-Drow Paragon are legal for play.

(Bolded for emphasis.)

How about them gillmen?

I keep pestering about gillmen every time a thread about allowing a non-core race appears.

Spoiler:
EXPLOSIVE RUNES!
God this is old.

The Exchange

I've heard that they don't plan to ever allow evil races such as goblins to be playable after that one con where they handed out those boons (My local venture captain is one of like 40 people who is allowed to play one of the evil little bastards)

Aside from the core races; Aasimars, tengu, and Tieflings are playable, as well as races that can be unlocked with boon sheets, such as the Wayang, Kitsune, Nagaji and one other race I can't remember. pretty sure it wasn't gillmen, though.

besides, considering gillmen are water dependent and there's very few aquatic PFS scenarios, this seems like a bad idea..

There were quite a lot of boons before that allowed dhampirs, ifrits, and all those elemental types to roam Golarion.

The water dependancy isn't all that bad if you prepare. Or get create water somehow.

Nevertheless I doubt Gillmen will ever be allowed due to canonic issues. Gillmen are somewhat tied to the Aboleth/Azlant thing which the Paizo staff doesn't like to talk about or reveal more information. At least that's what I've gathered.

Gillmen make an interesting case, but if you read Liar's Blade, it might give you some ideas both pro and con :)

Just judging by the kinds of posts I've seen you make on these boards, nosig, I have a feeling you'll like it!

I'm not in the know on that, but I'd imagine that bringing a new developer up to speed and also them trying to push out the last Shattered Star *and* the first two Reign of Winter chronicle sheets might have taken up a bit of their time, especially with Mike Brock in Australia supporting PFS there.

I'm looking forward to a chronicle sheet for this one too, but I'd rather have it when it's "good and ready" than "asap" myself :)

Much to my surprise, They have Internet in Australia so I can read the posts. ;-)

At this time, we have no plans to make hobgoblins legal via boon or any other thread.

You can always play in home games if you have a competent DM.

Seeing the limitations of PFS, I'd say it's more fun that way as well.

And this is what you waste your time on?! Kill those characters in Bonekeep!
