[Jehova's Arena, Test] Fight the Thirty-Second, Grizzlegut vs. Malar

Play-by-Post

The two new combatants enter a brand new arena. They take their places at the newly widened entrances. It seems the crowd hasn't found out about the change in location, as the stands surrounding the pit are completely empty.

Grizzlegut 1d2 ⇒ 1, Malar 1d2 ⇒ 1

Grizzlegut starts at A11, Malar at L10. Initiatives and full descriptions, please.

Male Goblin Rogue 2

Initiative:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Initiative 13

Edit: Forgot to put in description

Grizzlegut comes charging out from the entrance, jumping up and down in a11 as he flailed two shortswords wildly in the air, shrieking maniacally at his opponent across the arena in some form of what is assumed to be a goblin war song. However, unless you know goblin you probably think he wants to set you on fire, which is a safe bet with most goblins.

On the diminuitive, if not slightly crazy and homodicidal, goblin is what appears to be a extremely dirty, if not surprisingly well maintained suit of mithral chainmail that appears to gleam here and there.

As Goblins go Grizzlegut is tinted a light blue from having previously lived along the warm coastal waters before having likely accidentally wandered into this arena. He has bright red pupiless eyes and a teeth full of dirty and razor sharp looking teeth.

Goblin Chant:

Goblins fast and goblins smart.
Goblins win good from the start!
Smash you good, stab you right
Goblin steal all your might!

Liane, level 4

Malar is a badly shaven, foul smelling human. He enters the Arena clad in a long robe covering his body head to toes. Only his haggard face emerges, eaten by his beard and two icy blue eyes.

However, his body language contrasts with his appearance as he enters the arena with a light step, carrying a full assortment of weapons. A battleaxe rests between his shoulders, close to a full quiver. A worn recurved longbow is nested in his left hand while a wicked spiked gauntlet and a buckler adorn his right one. At his belt, a scrollcase is half open and a potion is visible in the gauntlet wielding hand.

Initiative:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Initiative is 18

Can you post your description as well?

Grizzlegut, in order to make sure all of the dice rolling is on the level, we use the forum dice roller, which you can see how to do be clicking on the 'How to format your text' button under the post box. Once you've rolled the dice (in a spoiler), you should go ahead and post the final result outside of it so that your opponent knows who's going when.

Male Goblin Rogue 2

(I'll reroll it them I didn't realise that was there, sorry.)

Liane, level 4

Round 1

Malar eyes suddenly focus on the small creature as he brings the potion to his lips and drinks. A small blue flash surrounds the cloaked man.

Spellcraft DC16:
Shield

While doing that, his eyes never leave the creature, looking for hidden weapons or items.

Perception:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Perception 28

From your description, you've only got the two swords and the armor. Is that correct?

Male Goblin Rogue 2

He also has a potion as well as five tindertwigs, which are easily recognisable and two short wooden sticks strapped to his chest.

Forgive me anyway, still trying to figure this all since this is one of my first postings on this forum.

Grizzlegut lets out a wild cackle one last time before dashing off to behind the pillars to the man's left, likely out of sight as well.

L11-K13
I assume that I can now make a skill check for my stealth? If so I'll go ahead and roll that, and if I can't because you can either hear/still see, or I suppose smell me somehow just ignore the roll?

Stealth:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 +6 despite the full movement because he already has a +16 to his stealth from all his racials and various gobliny goodness. I can make a list showing you all my bonuses if you wish as well.

On a side side note it should have only been -5 not -10 but with a 1 it'd fail anyway

Stealth 7

Had to edit my movement, I was looking at the wrong arena, my apologies. though the stealth still fails I imagine.

Liane, level 4

Grizzlegut, you were supposed to be in A11 and not L11. To move things, let's assume you used the same movement from A11. You would then be in B13

Round 2

As the goblin tries to hide, Malar follow his move and spring into action. Moving to get a better firing position, he mutters a few words raises his bow to fire a single arrow.

Arbiter:
Move to J15, attack with bow 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23, damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Move to J15, bow attack 23, damage 9

Male Goblin Rogue 2

Grizzlegut lets out an angry shriek of pain as the arrow sails across the arena and straight into his forehead. Apparrantly his skull was either too thick, or his brain so small so that the arrow did not drop him, however you now had an angri goblin-corn now in the arena. Reaching down to his chest he takes the potion and tosses it down his throat, suddenly vanishing.

post is now irrevelant see post below

Liane, level 4

I don't want to be picky, but I'm not sure you can do that. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. You've got both of your swords in your hands, so to take the potion, you have to sheathe one sword (1 move action), take out the potion (1 move action) and drink it (1 standard action), that's one extra move action. You may have a feat or trait that would enable you to do that, in that case, fine. Otherwise, you need to drop one of your swords.

Again, if you think your build enables you to do that, feel free to correct me.

Pickiness is important when rules are concerned. Grizzlegut could drink the potion, but it would require dropping his sword. Alternatively he could sheath and draw the potion, but then he'd just be sitting there.

Male Goblin Rogue 2

Ah, the devil is in the details, I just went back over to look up the rules as I only just recently started playing the game itself. I apologise and will change it to a legal move, on a side note of just curiosity, how did you get a +15 to hit with your bow?

Grizzlegut drops one of his blades and quickly grabs his potion tossing back the liquid down his throats, turning invisible shortly afterwards.

It's not +15, it's +8, I rolled a 15. If you've just started playing, you'll see there are a few tricks with the rules and the way to combine actions to their best.

Round 3

"Ah, a nice trick, little one."
Malar hand drops down to his scrollcase and he takes out a scroll. With an expert move, he unrolls it, reading aloud. He then steps back, ready for anything.

Move action: draw a scroll. Standard action: Casts a spell. Spellcraft DC 17 to identify. Takes a 5 foot step back to J16

Arbiter:
CL check 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6, DC 5.

Male Goblin Rogue 2

Suddenly the dropped shortsword appears to be lifted up from the ground and starts floating through the air at about the height of the previously seen goblin, the blade suddenly drops back onto the ground.

Blade is on the ground D15

Liane, level 4

I'm going to need some Arbiter help for that one. PM has been sent.

Arbiter:
Roll 1 1d20 ⇒ 14, Roll 21d20 ⇒ 16, Roll 3 1d8 ⇒ 6

Male Goblin Rogue 2

Very well, I'll use this post for my next move after you get your result/whatever happened with Arbiter, just posting this hear so you guys know I'm alive.

Liane, level 4

Answer recieved. My actions will use the rolls in the previous post.

As the goblin blade clatter to the ground, Malar looks up to locate the goblin. Perception check 22

Without hesitation, he crosses the open ground in diagonal, looking to his right.Moves to E10

Pivoting on his heels, his bow comes up and an arrow flies towards the invisible goblin.attack 25, damage 11

Male Goblin Rogue 2

Grizzlegut is thwacked with an arrow despite being invisible, he then falls over dead with the second arrow having pierced his body. The one energetic spawn of evil now quiet on the arena floor.

Liane, level 4

When the Grizzlegut falls, Malar shoulders his bow and moves to the corpse, drawing his battleaxe. Raising it above his head, deftly separates the head of the goblin from its body.

Without a look at his opponent's corpse, Malar exits the empty arena, his job done.

Coup de grace, damage: 3d8 + 15 ⇒ (4, 4, 7) + 15 = 30

Sorry for the quick fight, I was very lucky with my attacks. Just a quick advice. Even when you are invisible, you should still try to use stealth.
