Hi there,
Might as well chime in with the eighty million 'recommend an adventure path' threads. I'm currently running ROTR anniversary in person and my group loves every second of it. However, I'm going to start running a game over a chat client, or perhaps a VTT and I'm curious if any adventure path is best suited for that environment. I've done many games over IRC before, though not with this particular group.
Is there an adventure path which lends itself best to this medium? One player is really keen on trying Carrion Crown for the horror theme. I'm leaning towards Curse of the Crimson Throne due to its near-universal praise but am open to suggestions.
I have one very experienced player, one who is experienced with non-Pathfinder games, one moderately experienced, and one utter total noob.
Thanks!

My main group is having great fun with Carrion Crown, which we have almost completed (one session left). It works very well online.
Kingmaker was also great, but I left the full Kingdom running details outside of mapmaking to the players so I wouldn't have to think about those.
I am using Fantasy Grounds 2 which I think is a great tool for the job. (Been using it for 5 years now).

I'm using Skype (group calls) for a Rise of the Runelords campaign; one of the Skype players is in my tabletop group as well which I'm segueing into Reign of Winter (originally I was going to do a Pathfinder-modified Night Below but realize I was finding it boring - I've already put people through it in the past twice).
There are programs out there which can assist with this, with some work. One is called Rolld20 I believe, though I wasn't able to get it working to my satisfaction. But I'm lazy so you might find it more useful. ;)

I'd recomend Shattered Star if you can do some basic image editting or are proficient with grid scaling of a VTT. Maps are provided for almost every encounter as it is largely a dungeon crawl AP, but it's also been really fun and interesting with lots of good roleplaying moments from my group (and reading ahead, I'm loving this AP). However some of the maps are 10' to a square so you will have to do a little work to get the maps scale to 5' squares.
Also, Highly recomending Roll20. I once tried maptools and could never get the hang of it. Currently running Shattered star via Roll20 on Google Hangout and it's almost as good as being around a table. Roll20 has been easy to use, a detailed FAQ and tutorial on it's usage and has given me almost everything I've wanted from a VTT.

Roll20 works fine with Macs. Only tricky thing is learning how to align maps (After using the align grid tool to get the maps to the correct size, alt+left mouse button allows you to drag and align the map without it snapping the image to grid) and making sure you give the players the permissions they need to look at stuff and move characters around. But I love the built-in fog of war, being able to have images pop up for players to see, HP bars and built-in counters to record HP or status effects.
Hmmm, did not realize that was the reason you didn't want to run RotR. It might be safe to say that, there are a few spoilers in Shatter Star for RotR. Unless the player in the Runelord game already knows about Karzoug trying to escape, it might not be the best choice. Also some spoilers for Second Darkness and Curse of the Crimson Throne in Shattered Star.
I haven't run it myself but I'll also recommend Curse of the Crimson Throne because...Well quite frankly it's awesome. I very literally got engrossed in it and read the first two books without having an intention to run it, which is a bit rare for me to read something unless I'm prepping to run it. I don't think there are any particular issues running it via VTT. Though it is 3.5, but plenty of conversion help from the messageboard on that front.

your biggest problem trying to run one of the APs through a VTT is that their map scale is compressed a bit unevenly. On most of the smaller maps, its isn't so bad, but then there are maps like Schloss Caromarc which you are going to have a hard time aligning a square grid in the VTT with the size changing rectangles on the map.
