So, what if Fighters had access to Rage Powers and other such things?

Homebrew and House Rules

I've seen it said a bunch of times on this forum, many classes have something better than a Feat unique to their class. Barbarians have Rage Powers, Alchemists have Discoveries, Ninjas have Ninja Tricks (well some are better than Feats I think).

So, random idea, what if Fighters had a way to access these? Maybe take them as an alternative to their Bonus Feats. Could be something as simple as "Half of your Fighter levels count as X class levels for the purpose of qualifying for these 'Feat-like Non-Feats'".

So you have say a level 10 Fighter he counts as a level 5 Barbarian for the purpose of qualifying for Rage Powers with a level prerequisite.

Or hell, since it doesn't make much sense fluff-wise for him to take Discoveries, say "Every X ranks in Craft: Alchemy counts as Y levels of Alchemist for the purpose of qualifying for Discoveries". I mean, sure, many wouldn't help him (any boosting the Mutagen or Bombs), but a Fighter that could take Vestigial Arm, Wings, Mummification, all these sorts of things could be a pretty solid boost to the class and pretty cool I think.

Just a half baked idea with no real thought behind it, take it as you will.

Check out the Viking archetype from People of the North. It trades Bravery for the ability to Intimidate as a move, swift, and eventually free action, Armour Training for extra AC from shields, and Weapon Training for rage at barbarian level -3. You also get the ability to take a rage power instead of a bonus feat.

Sounds neat!

Some kind of alchemically-oriented archetype for the Fighter (say, the Mutant) could be pretty cool. I'd be more comfortable with these as individual archetypes than as something one Fighter could necessarily mix and match automatically though.
