So we are running a kickstarter for our fantasy skirmish board game Torn Armor (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1471855235/torn-armor)
Currently, there are two sides in the game:
The Sisk Empire, an expansionist society akin to ancient Romans and Greeks. For gameplay purposes they are strictly human (although in the actual Torn World setting they are the whole gambit of the "core" races)
and the Maychians, anthropomorphic animal races (vanara, catfolk, ratfolk, serpentfolk, tengu etc etc). They are "low tech" and are akin to the Aztecs and Mayans.
So my question is: In a fantasy board game such as this, what other factions and/or races would YOU as a gamer want to see?
| Fig |
Plant-based creatures, for whom all "meat" races are a threat.
Plants are a good one.
Barbarians/Berserkers--ludite branch of the Sisk, raging low-tech humans
Elemental forces--an extremist faction of the Maychians, the elements seek to eliminate all non-instinctive races. Could assume the plants into this.
Vermin/Bacteria--a balance to the Elementals. They need advanced life to live, but don't want to be forced into the lowest rungs of the food chain.

Oh indeed! I actually never considered a group like that in a game. Cool :)

I like that barbarian/berserker angle, especially for the Sisk. Being an expansionist country, it would make sense that they would have conquered people on their side that would fit this.
And the extremist elementals: I agree, i think that would go well with a plant race. Like the spirits of the elements have risen up against the "meat" races of the world.
