Dear One and All....
*ahem*
DEAR ONE AND ALL....It's time for the second go-around of Asheville's loudest, brashest, and geekiest pop-culture convention: GEEKOUT 2013!!!
This year, the main convention will be taking place (complete with burlesque dancers, cosplay competition, and all the geek lore you could shake a stick at) on 5/4 (Saturday) on the UNC-Asheville campus in lovely downtown Asheville, NC!
BUT.....we at the Asheville Pathfinder Lodge needed more. Yup, even more. So we're PFS gaming both before (Friday night) and after (Sunday morning) the convention. Oh, and we're PFS gaming during the convention as well!
Our gaming schedule is about to go live. The host hotel will be announced within a matter of hours, and YOU can put a big fat red circle around the dates on your calendar with the words 'Asheville, NC' de-marking your plans for Cinco de Mayo weekend.
Stay tuned. And if you want more info....

I'm attempting to get a clarification on gaming times listed on the GeekOut site, but the start time on Saturday at the Sherrill Convention Center will be 8AM for gamers.
As far as badges, I've emailed the GeekOut directors to tell them of the lack of a live link. Once I get a live link to badge purchasing, I'll post it here (and many other places).
Cheers!

Since GeekOut falls in the appropriate date range, will you be handing out the new Taxfest holiday boon?

GEEK OUT TIX FINALLY ON SALE!!!!
PLEASE note: if you're a GM running 3 or more games for us at GeekOut, please do NOT purchase a ticket. Your VIP pass will be comp'd.
That is all,
Paul

I was just looking at the Warhorn site, and I'm feeling awfully lonely in those first two slots :-(
Also, I tried to look up directions, but Google Maps and Mapquest don't know where the convention center is. What's the best way to get there from the north (including finding parking)?
TYpe this in Rainy Day Ninja The Wilma M. Sherrill Center Should pop directions it does for me.

Aha! Google Maps found it as "The Sherrill Center and Kimmell Arena." Being a university on the weekend, can I assume parking is a free-for-all?

Happy GEEKOUT Friday! Go look at the WARHORN to make sure that you're signed up for everything you want/need.
Ticket worries? Never fear; there (should/will) be someone from the official GeekOut squad at the hotel on Friday evening, ready to handle ticket and badge issues. Regardless, there will be no slowing of the gaming whether you have your badge on Friday night or not!
The hotel for the weekend is the Days Inn on Tunnel Rd. If you want to not miss a non-stop minute of all of the GeekOut action, you want to be staying here. Pet friendly! Hot breakfast! Games galore!
On Saturday morning, we will pack up shop and head to the Sherrill Center on the UNCA campus where the GeekOut Main Event will be held! Vendors, celebrities, geeks, and more! Want more info? Check it out!
We will return to the Days Inn on Saturday evening for late-nite Saturday gaming, as well as Sunday games to round out the weekend. Prizes and boons will be given away all weekend long - you've got to be there to win them!
I would be remiss if I did not send a big shout-out to those three peoples who have helped a ton with the logistics and planning for this event. QC, LUTH, and the awesome DC2 have been hugely helpful in planning what should be a massive weekend of gaming. Over 30 tables of PFS action planned! Watch out, DragonCon!!
Feel free to email me or FB me this weekend with any and all questions or issues. I will attempt to play some games myself this weekend, but YOU have no excuse! Go make a new friend; learn a new game; try a new character class out; meet one of our awesome visiting VOs (Del Collins, David Shaw). GeekOut is what you put into it, and if that's true, this will be the bloodiest convention since the Red Cross meeting last weekend.
Cheers and 20s, y'all,
Paul

Well done to all involved!
Much like the storied Hao Jin... we rose from the ashes of the lockout to make for an Epic late night session at our true home WT. and Thank you to those who came on Sunday morning for a last few games!
Rest up and come back for more with the APL(Asheville Pathfinder Lodge) hosted at the Wyvern's Tale... look for them on Facebook for more info. and look for us on the forums here and on warhorn :)
See ya soon,
Luth out!

My wife tells me she had fun... even with her first two PC deaths (both on the same character, in the same game. Killed her rogue twice in the first slot, and she still stayed for the entire CON, so she must have been having fun).
We did make sure she was raised during the scenario ... and the GM giving her his shirt reroll actually saved her from the second one (though everyone's jaw dropped when she rolled the first save for that one).
Speaking as both a fellow player and the GM for one of her tables, she was a good player to have at a table. Get her to bring you along next time and pop by the APL. :)

Yeah, the funny thing is, she actually has a T-shirt, she just forgot to bring it. So she wasn't going to take the re-roll (guess she felt bad for not having it with her), and said the judge gave her his. She did likely have the money for a second rez though - she's saving for something big I think...
It was kind of funny Saturday - she was at your CON and I was at the local game day. So she'd call, and everyone at my table knew her so we paused while she'd update us on how she was doing. Lots of fun.
Did you get to play with her when she ran her Aasimar Cleric? Lots of fun there... eating for two and all that.
edit: ah... what's an APL? only thing I know for that is Average Player Level... and "Get her to bring you along next time and pop by the APL." makes no sense for Average Player Level.

Yep, I got to play with the Aasimar Cleric ... when we did the mass enlarge person the question was posed as to what would happen to her baby which lead to some chuckles and theorizing. Having her in the party allowed us to utilize some key items for the final fight and her having teleport to get us behind the BBEGs made the final fight sooooo much easier.
APL=Asheville Pathfinder Lodge ... we're big on the double use of acronyms here. ;)
