Skateboard?

Was just wondering haven't read anything on skateboards, but is there anything? I'm trying to base a character on myself and I was thinking, he'd have a skateboard to get around, not to use for combat, there is possibility though but for attack rather than combat movement, I mean just in general getting around etc. So any rules on that?

Well, you could use the rules for making wondrous items to make it. Longstrider would be a good spell, with a reduction or increase to speed depending whether you are going up or down a slope. No use in difficult terrain, etc.

Nothing really. I'm sure you could work with your GM to make a mundane item. Off the top of my head, I'd say it'd increase your base speed, probably require a Balance (Acrobatics) Check (but one you could take 10 on) to stay on, and in combat, you're considered flatfooted while riding it. Could use Acrobatics checks to do cool tricks. Long boards would probably have lower speeds but easier Balance Checks. Maybe. I don't know enough on the difference between the two.

Hahaha excellent, nothing like having a magus ride i on a skate board kick flip then impale a goblin with one hand and set fire to another with the other hand, thanks.

Keep in mind the technology back then(Pathfinder) would make for some horrible non-magic version of the skateboard that is common place with todays current technology...

The old skateboard wheels of the 1960s were vastly inferior until 1972 when urethane wheels where invented.

Magic can supersede this of course, but then why need wheels when you can just make Tenser's Floating Disc permanent? (oh wait... I guess its not called Tenser's anymore).

Either way I would say a usable med-evil skateboard would have to be masterwork just because of the wheels involved.

Didn't Blackbloodtroll make this thread a while back?

I'll give a different answer this time, regardless. Go for a magic hoverboard instead. Because no force on earth is going to get you moving faster than the speed of smell though anything like grass or wilderness areas on a skateboard.

Hey, I tried to work this out here.

I don't think you'll find a lot of surfaces flat enough for a skateboard in most fantasy settings.
Cobblestone is bad for skateboarding. As is nearly everything outdoors.

Ride (Skateboard) skill?

Shadow Lodge

Oh sweet I'll check that thread.
Mmmmm hover board sounds good but I dunno sounds futuristic which in itself is a paradox considering good wheel are too complex, if you get what I mean hahaha.

a hoverboard woul essentially be a small carpet of flying with a lot of flavor. crazy tricks would just require a fly check.

Ride around on your wizard friend's Floating Disc?

Well we do have Ice Skates. One could say it is just a miniature wagon...

In BBT's thread I posted on things called Casting Stones. I don't know their official name. They were used t make Molds for Muzzle-Loading Firearm Bullets. When they were retired they were smoothed out and used to make joints for Wagon Axles and such to facilitate turning and movement.

Some of the small pistol ones went into Mills and Looms.

Liberty's Edge

Don't know if this helps, but there was a Psionic power in 3.5 called Skate that added 15ft. of movement to you or a willing target as they slid across the ground. Movement uphill was reduced to normal while movement downhill was increased an additional 15ft. The power could be used to create a wondrous item called Boots of Skating that were essentially roller skates (minus the wheels and trucks) and added +10ft to movement.

For a typical fantasy dungeon or wilderness environment, I think a Mountainboard or a Dirtsurfer would be more practical.

Also, considering a hoverboard really is just a personal flying carpet, it wouldn't be too futuristic. I think you'd get more strange looks riding a mundane skateboard around Andoran than you would a magical hoverboard.

I just considered a reflavored Broom of Flying for the whole "hoverboard" thing.

I see very little difference in the use of surfboards to skateboards. I replied on the other thread, trying to get at the root of this conceptual debate. I think we are on to a blank canvas spot here. Also, I think we could be helped by considering how ice skates are used in-game. Can we get a reference source on this item?
