Puppet Familiar

Homebrew and House Rules

For the next campaign I will participate in, I have decided to be an Illusionist Wizard. I feel that instead of picking an object or animal to be bonded with, a puppet familiar would be much more fitting. (and it goes well with the back story I have created)

My questions are:
Is there already a template for a puppet familiar?
If no, what would be a good special ability to receive from the familiar?
Would I need a special feat in order to obtain this familiar?
What are some base stats for a low level puppet, and should it be able to speak like a raven if it has sufficient intelligence?

Thanks!

It sounds like a re-skinned homunculus to me. You'd need the Improved Familiar feat and be 7th level. And make a homunculus. Since it sounds like you don't need the poison, or the ability to fly, your GM might lower the level requirement for the puppet, and/or make it cheaper to create.

The only problem with the homunculus is the fact that my character would be given the puppet, and could not create it. The spirit or soul from an old man would be kept inside of the body. Maybe my DM will allow this to take place anyway.

I like the idea a lot, but are there any other options available?
