Hello folks.
A few months ago I was at a gaming convention in Northeast PA, MEPACON. At this convention, the Pathfinder Society was represented and I decided 'Hey, I play Pathfinder all the time, why don't we sit down and enjoy a game here, con style.'
Me and two of my buddies were given first level 'pregens' to play with, and we had a blast getting through the goblin guild, and through severing ties.
The GM for both games informed us we could respec the character completely as long as we didn't play in 3 games (as thats what it took to level).
Everything seems hunky dorey, but I have two concerns...
1.) A friend of mine seemed suspicious when I described my pregen (1st level fighter, half-orc double-weapon user), and I have concerns this might not be a 'valid' pregen. In which case, does this mean that chronicle sheets for Severing Ties and the Goblin Guild would be invalid? Also, how could I confirm this?
2.) I'm led to believe pregens can't exchange equipment. Does this mean I'm stuck with an orc doubleaxe and leather armor even if I respec into say...a gnomish wizard, human thief, or something?

1. There is no legal pregen that's a half orc with a double axe, so you must have used a lvl 1 character that someone else cooked up. HOWEVER, good news for you, you basically played a level 1 character and that's all that matters. At level 1 there is a bit of a leeway due to the level 1 retraining rules. Had it been with a level 4 or 7 pregen, it would have been more of a problem. Your sheets are still valid regardless.
The only legal pregens are found on the right here, plus the LV1 and LV7 ones in the NPC codex section of the PRD.
2. PFS has a level 1 retaining rule which means as long as your character has not played an adventure as a level higher than 1, then you may swap out ANYTHING about him. Race, class, equipment, skills, spells, everything (one exception is used consumables, like charges off wands). So if you respec into a wizard, just sell back the axe and armor (at 100% price, not 50%) and buy whatever you want. Or just make it easier and start over with 150gp.

Welcome. Glad you had a good time playing.
To be honest, there is a small issue with the "pregen" in that it's not one of the actual Paizo created pregen characters. However, since the characters were 1st level, as long as they were legal builds (assuming they were), then its not a problem. The Paizo iconic fighter is Valeros, a two weapon fighter with long sword and short sword. Since it's the first time trying it out, and you played in good faith, the chronicles should be considered valid as filled out by the respective GM's. The onus on making legal characters/tables falls on the con organizer at that point, and as I say, I'm assuming everything was legal on the characters he/she provided you.
When you rebuild your character (before playing him after he levels up to 2nd), you can sell back all the equipment you have at full value, minus any consumables/ammunition used. You can not sell back items bought with fame though. So when you respec into a new class, you can purchase new equipment that reflects your new class/race as appropriate.
EDIT:And ninja'd while rambling =p
