Hello all, was not sure if this belongs in 3rd party or advice. Feel free to move it if need be.
Right then, our group has been running Rappan Athuk for a while now (our second serious run of it) and the group has decided to deal with the majority of surface encounters after going into several of the entrances and nearly dieing. Our GM is leveling us as a group, so all characters are level 8. We have a large group, and we seem to need it with RA. The fact that all of this is player knowledge (the fact that the dragon exists and what the encounter is like) should be ignored for purposes of this discussion.
The group is: Oratory Bard (basically standard), Fire elemental spell bound wizard (myself), spellslinger that has hardly seen combat, merciful healer, rouge focused on bypassing DR, fighter that claims to be focused on damage per round but ends up intimidating everything, and a mysterious stranger gunslinger.
I realize that its a CR14.. but my thought would be this, at what level would you wait for to go after the dragon (no fair just saying 20) and how would you go about it? Already decided I will take opposition research as the wizard and the rouge is working on a way to stop it from flying much.
We are allowing any Paizo source, and some equipment/concepts from 3.0 and 3.5.
Oh, and Aragnak is an adult red dragon, for those that haven't dealt with him.
