Has anyone else tried this game out?
Path of Exile
It's currently in beta, but it's free and LOADS of fun. Plays like Diablo, but the leveling system is like Final Fantasy VII's materia (you get skill gems that fit into sockets in your items that gain their own experience) combined with Final Fantasty X's massive spheres skill map thing.
So far, the game has proven to be a lot of fun. I'm honestly having more fun with this than I ever had with Diablo 3. Did I mention it's free?
I highly, highly recommend it!

Been playing for about two weeks now, and having a great time. Having been pretty disappointed with Diablo 3, Path of Exile plays much better in my opinion. More like a Diablo 2 with a ridiculously huge passive skill tree.
I really love how you can spec any class into just about any role you can imagine.

Despite the fact that it feels like Diablo 2 with a new skill tree (big one at that) and non-gold trade system, the concept feels distinct enough on its own.
The setting appeals to me. The idea of exiled survivors making their way through the ruins of a destroyed empire has kept my interest in the first run-through. While its hardly the first "dark/gloomy" fantasy game I played, it's got a certain medieval griminess to it that reminds me of old-RPGs akin to 1st edition D&D. Maybe just the way they have set up everthing in terms of characters; equipment; etc.
Anyhow, have had fun playing through the weekend. Certainly willing to give it another go soon.
