Just Curious

Kingmaker

So, I'm just curious, once you explore a hex completely is it safe to move through from then on out? Like, if I explore a hex completely, defeating anything that we came across in it, in the future, would there be more enemies there or would it be considered cleared and safe to camp in from then on out.

Note: I am a player and not the DM, so I will understand if this is a subject up to DM discretion.

Thanks.

The answer is no. Kingmaker is a dynamic environment, monsters can move in or cross territory you've already explored and the random monster table is still there even in settled areas.

I see. I suppose that makes sense in terms of keeping things interesting and all. So, really one would be exploring more for mapping purposes than conquering or taming the wilderness.

Thank you kindly for the info.

It is however usually assumed that an explored hex has been somewhat civilized and it less likely to lead to bad encounters. Of course, that's also up to the DM and your own Kingmaker campaign. :)

When you enter an unclaimed hex, there's a 5% chance of a random encounter. If you Camp or explore, then there's another 15% of an encounter.

If you've claimed the hex, those numbers drop to 1% and 3%, respectively.

But which GM always plays by book? *evilgrin*

Ruyan.

Blargney.. I would have spoilered that bit, since it's DM knowledge.
Try to be vague? :p

To the OP: No, it's not safe. But it is safe-R!
