Alas, it has been several years since I have attended a gaming convention - my husband has just been that busy. And the one we had looked forward to last year, alas, did not happen. (NeonCon, we will miss you!)
PaizoCon is happening over my wedding Anniversary, and ending just a scant couple of days before my husband's 40th birthday.
How do I sell going to this convention to him?
What suggestions do all of y'all have for me?
Thank you!

If he's a gamer, tell him that the Paizo community is very friendly and welcoming, and you see the best of that at PaizoCon. If you want the opportunity for some close time with the Paizo staff, come to PaizoCon. Staff members run games. We hang out in the bar/restaurant. If you go to the banquet, we're at your table. We run panels and workshops.
Kyle and Nani, before the were venture-captains, came to PaizoCon 2. They had never been to GenCon before; I told them they should definitely do GenCon at least once. They did the next year, had a great time... and decided that they prefer PaizoCon. It's smaller (500ish people), you get to see the same faces, and a lot of fun.
I once made the comparison that going to GenCon is like going to a professional baseball game... going to PaizoCon is like going to a little league game in your home town, where the players are your kids and your friends' kids and it's as much a reunion of friends as a reason to spend time with your kids.

He is a gamer, just haven't had the time with RL *flail!*. We used to be big in the LG community, and he's done stuff for another small game company. He also ran the most successful Sci-Fi/Fantasy convention in our area, many moons ago.
And really, PaizoCon is only about 500ish? Oooh, I like that size!
And yes, everyone should go to GenCon once. It's like making the Haj, except for Gamers.
Mmmm, we were up there about 10 years ago for my brother-in-laws wedding. There was this awesome Italian eatery downtown I loved. 'The Grotto', IIRC. Maybe I can get him to go back. After all, that is our prime entertainment when we pass thru or visit Las Veags. There's so mighty fine eateries there. Plus, a good meal costs as much as some of the shows ... and is semi-nutritious!
Hmmmm.... yes, yes, I definitely need to convince him of this! Thank goodness for the new job with 3 weeks of vacation time a year!
