So since the content is going to be character-driven in this game, I thought what I might like doing as a player is to carve a niche for myself trying to create some kind of in-game publication letting people know what's going on, who's at war, that sort of thing. What do you guys think of the idea? Would you spend a copper or two on that?
Could also have classified ads of some sort, maybe even advertising (for in-game money) for guilds, settlements, taverns, craftsmen, that sort of thing.
Anyone interested in the idea, possibly being a fellow reporter, let's talk sometime before the game starts. Also, anyone running guilds and stuff like that, it would help me a lot to know who you are and what's going on with your guilds.

I don't see it turning out very well in game. To much chance for people to write some very bad things in a very public manner. I however will gladly support a website dedicated to doing exactly this. I would love to be able to check out what has been going on in the game world, it sounds really exciting.

Have plans for something like that in the future on my site PFOFan.com for characters to write articles, post events, etc.

I get the idea, but others might not be that good at editing, or intentionally write terrible things in their own paper. Just because some people are willing to behave themselves doesn't mean that hundreds of others won't ruin it for everyone.
A quality newspaper site may well result in Chartered Companies paying to do stories and your continued services. It would make a great way for players to go "I have this contract job I want done, come to this location to take the job." People would pay for that kind of public service.
