Okay, so I got RotR:AE as an Xmas gift and since my homebrew game's delayed I've decided to run it with a bunch of my High School buddies... who've never played a Table Top. So my first question is how would you guys say this AP is for neophytes in general.
Also, it looks like we're going to have 3 casters... One Wizard who's gonna go Eldritch Knight eventually. Another who's gonna be a Sorceror who wants to go Dragon Disciple. The third wants to be another Wizard. So early game they're only gonna have 1 Martialclass (a ranger) and 3 arcane casters... and no healer. All non-optimal. Do you guys think that new players with non-standard comp can get past early levels? I'm not worried once they get to mid level, by then the casters should be able to pull their weight. It's till then though that I'm worried.

Thinking about this, I recall that there are several NPC's throughout the early going that could lend a swordhand to the adventurers for a little more martial support.
The lack of a healer might make it a bit tougher, but still doable.
I'm concerned that the lack of a healer could still be an issue, but I'm glad someone thinks this could work. We'll start tonight so wish me luck lol.

If they make it past Part 1 okay, you can always attach Shalelu to the party once she comes into town. She's useful in a fight and carries a wand of cure light wounds, so she can cover a couple of the party's softer spots. If they need more healing, Father Zantus can always come up with another of those wands or some potions (either on-credit or outright free, depending on their finances).

Since finishing character creation took ages, they only got to the end of the Raid on Sandpoint and things went well.
Seems one of the Wizards switched to Alchemist so he's making Potions till he can infuse his extracts. Granted, it's not a perfect solution since they're pretty cash poor still, and the Ranger went Dhampir so he can't easily be healed right now, but it's not so bad since he's also the tank for AC and health.

I'm about to start running this AP as well with some novices. Keep us posted on how your game goes. Right now my group is sitting at a Wizard, Ranger, and Paladin. I ran them through the beginner box dungeon(that thing gives great loot!) and may do another adventure beforehand. I'm wanting them to be sufficiently leveled when it gets to this AP.
