Hi forum! Haven't been long time reader but I have been enjoying Pathfinder material for years and 3.5e D&D far before that. I hope this thread isn't inappropriate.
I just registered because I've been searching online and haven't found a good strategy guide how to munchkin up and build a city from scratch. This might be useful both for devious players or for DMs who want powerful opposing kingdoms. Also is there anything like a printable building tree (think the tech trees from the Civilization games) so you can see at a glance which buildings reduce the cost of which? I really hope some day Piazo will put out a book that expands on the kingdom building rules or provides new Campaigns based on them. :)
Since you can't munckin without knowing much about what you are aiming for here are the scenarios:
Suppose you have a 6 hex kingdom with 4 farms and a developed mine sitting on a resource, the ruling NPC/PC council is rather low on stats and their founding town isn't very good city. Economy 20, Loyalty 20, Stability 20. Assume all rolls are average. They decide to build a new city from the ground up. After preparing everything for the city to be build except any buildings they are left with 20 BP.
A) Costal city on site of ruins of old castle which halves the cost of construction for that building
B) Same as A except start with 40 BP
C) Same as A, except there is a house rule that position of buildings in city doesn't matter (you still need the appropriate number of houses).
You have 12 months to make the best city possible under these constraints, assume no spending elsewhere but keep in mind war may come after the year is up. Describe under which circumstances you'd think your build would work best and why.
Hope I'll learn something! :)
