A random creepy event I had happen in a village that the pc's settled at the candlemere tower caught them off guard. A bewildering adamantine statue appeared in the town square one winter night on a full moon. Nobody saw who or what put it there but there were no footprints in the surrounding snow. The statue depicted a tall thin humanoid adorned(or perhaps mummified) with strange beads that would cast an unsettling teal glow(similar to Christmas lights.)For three days, it lingered with the eyes of its oval shaped skull fixed on the door of the crazy cat lady in town. Villagers who touched it would turn around and walk home remembering nothing of their previous action and often repeating the cycle again and again. After the third night, it vanished without a trace. The lady's cats were never seen again. However, on the nights of the winter's full moons, all sources of light emit a faint teal glow. This glow is accompanied by the sounds of lost hungry cats.
I thought it would be fun to hear what other gm's did with Candlemere Tower to creep their pcs out.

So far I added a Chutulu Dungeon beneath the tower, with a portal into a strange far away realm. Some mass of tentacles broke through this portal and the players had to fight it back.
Added some special elements by making the mass covering the whole floor, making everything difficult terrain. Also the mass reanimate some corpses which were conected by the tentacles to the mass. If a player got damage while on the mass he got additional 1d6 dmg as the mass suck his blood out of the wound (and heals itself for it^^).
Players could "turn" the mass from one square with fire/light, but 5 rounds later the mass cover the square again (if the light is gone).
Was a very insane encounter, as they really don't know what they were up against and tried a lot of wiered stuff :)

This was my baby They haven't hit it yet... I intend to give them both bonuses and drawbacks should they try to settle the area. It'll be beneficial for arcane casters but mundane building that are necessary will be unhappy (scaling unrest.)
