Mordant Spire Elf in this adventure path

Rise of the Runelords

Scarab Sages

I'm going to be starting this AP soon as a PbF game, and a player was interested in trying the Magus. When looking over the archetypes, the "Spire Defender" caught his eye. The idea of a Mordant Spire elf sounds interesting, though there is not much information on them (the most being from Elves of Golarion and the Inner Sea World Guide). The main problem we're trying to figure out is the background.

1. How/why did the elf come to be in Sandpoint at so early a stage in his life (1st level)?

and

2. Is the Spire Defender archetype still appropriate for an elf no longer defending the spire? This one is a bit easier to rationalize, perhaps he was trained as one and his training still carries over.

Looking for any suggestions. :) Thanks guys!

1. Accompanying a mordant spire sage who got eaten by Goblins. Out of shame, he does not return to Mordant Spire, but instead tries to complete his master'sission: finding out about the ancient magic of thassilon and how it might tie in to the hated Azlanti and their masters.
