New Star Wars film in 2015. (as reported by my friend Michael)

Waiting to see the Jar Jar/Donald Duck Speak n' Spell Children's line of products.

In other news, Asmodeous and Demogorgon still negotiating on their planned partnership with Microsoft.

It won't matter. STAR WARS is over.

"Mr. Lucas, who is 68 years old, had already announced he would step down from day-to-day operation of the company." HURRAY !!

Wow, I thought he would hold onto the rights for the rest of life.

Very interesting. I look forward to seeing what Disney can do with this. I'm also curious as to what they plan for episodes 7, 8 & 9. Will they go with something from already existing novels, complete with old characters? Or will they go with something completely new?

I'd say the $2 billion in cash and an equal value in stock was an offer he just couldn't refuse.

Reboot the series!

I care about the fate of Star Wars almost as much as I care about the fate of D&D.

Call me when the current owners of the respective brands decide to do something I might care about. Until then, I'm going to continue living my life secure in the knowledge that Return of the Jedi was the last Star Wars movie and 3.5 was the last edition of D&D.

I. am. STOKED.

There's going to be more Star Wars movies!!!!

The last and the best separate themselves from the rest. Be prepared

for the undeserved who stand on your neck hoping for a check.

Spoiler:

EMPIRE was the best Star Wars movie; and AD&D was the best version of D&D.

That most be why you're posting in a Star Wars thread on a post-3.5 D&D forum.

I guess I never realized that there were geek hipsters.

I'd like to see them explore some new territory. There's a lot of planets out there that would be pretty cool to check out. There's a lot of novels/comics, for that matter, that could provide some initial ideas.

I have no idea what that's supposed to mean, but it seems like you're saying I'm more awesome than you and have better taste, which seems about right.

I hope they go for broke and have Episode 7 be the jedi version of Kill Bill. That might be of interest.

Also, last time I checked, other than the sub-form specificially devoted to D&D and it's various iterations, a place in which this thread is not actually located, this is a Pathfinder forum. This may come as a surprise, but Pathfinder is a similar, but superior, form of D&D, and is not actually D&D itself.

Should we just get it over with and call them all losers?

This whole thing is a scam to re-use the sets/props/aliens/etc. from John Carter.[/tinfoil]

Oh wait...John Carter was awesome in a way that none of the prequels were...hrm...

This could turn into something positive. Having George Lucas out of the picture is a huge step in the right direction.

It means that it's weird for someone who claims that he doesn't care about Star Wars to take part in a discussion of Star Wars.

Unless, of course, that person was trying to be condescending and oh-so-above-it-all to others. Then that would be a lot clearer.

No sure, I mean, they're totally different. You can tell, because the names aren't the same.

Honestly, I'm seeing this as a positive move and hoping for the best.

Look what Disney has done with the Marvel franchise. It's amazing. With Lucas no longer holding all creative direction of Star Wars in his iron grip scripts can be written by people with vision, who can actually write dialogue that isn't painful when you hear it. Blu-Ray discs that show Han shooting first can finally be released.

Heck, they could reboot Episodes I-III and actually make them good.

Sorry, I'm still not following. Can you just tell me the correct opinion to hold and then pretend that I hold it? You seem to find this whole not-caring thing to be threatening, and I'd hate to see that develop into a full on case of erectile dysfunction.

Uh, yeah, they are totally different, at least insofar as it is salient to my point. You see, as much as D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder share similar rules, they are produced by different companies (*gasp!*). The company that currently makes the product branded as D&D is not producing a product I am in the market to purchase. Thus, my statement that I don't really care what happens to D&D because I no longer purchase D&D products. This isn't really that difficult, and I'm not sure why you're crawling up my ass to quench your raging inferiority complex. Don't get me wrong, the half-assed "yer a hipster, dood" comment was a real zinger, and I feel shamed in holding an opinion so contrary to your own that you thought it amounted to a valid response.

Are we done playing this little game, or do you want to shoot for a Star Wars equivalent to the edition wars because your fragile ego can't handle a dissenting opinion.

Actually scratch that. I'm done playing this little game. You're free to play whatever little games you'd like.

I was calling you out for what looked like a passive-aggressive "The old stuff was so much better" comment. Clearly I touched a nerve.

Yes, I am clearly the one who is oversensitive and who has overreacted in this exchange.

I agree. Being able to bring in non-Lucas directors and scriptwriters opens up tons of possibilities, and Marvel's recent successes gives us every reason to believe we can see the same with Star Wars.

That said, I'd really like to avoid any reboots. Even of the prequels.

It should be noted that Disney bought Marvel because of the success of the Marvel Studios movies, rather than directly being responsible for their success.

I respectfully disagree. I'd see them as a big middle finger to Mr. Lucas for ruining my childhood memories with those prequels. It might even be big enough for him to see from atop his giant mountain of money.

Hmmmm...Star Wars.

Don't you Dare... If Sony had bought Starwars, We would have seen a dozen Anime Films in which Luke checks out his naked Sister by now.

You know they did it on the flight from the Death star to the Fourth Moon of Yavin...you know they did.

I wouldn't want to see the prequels remade, but if Episode 7 was based on the discovery of time travel, which is then used to completely overwrite those movies, I'd be okay with that. Particularly if it turns out the Luke is his own grandfather.
