What Happened to Avatars?

Grand Lodge

It seems like half the posts don't have avatars any more. I'm not sure if this is a consequence of eliminating GM stars, but it makes it much more difficult to follow a thread when there is no name or picture to indicate that its a new post.

I've noticed a lot more posts without avatars recently too. I just assumed it was because there are a lot of new forum members who haven't picked one yet.

I haven't noticed a real difference, though I could just be unobservant. If you have a link to a post that should have an avatar but doesn't, that'd help us track down any problems.

I can see the avatars, but the Names are missing for me.

If the names are missing it might be a stylesheet issue. We've been poking at those the past couple days. What browser are you using?

I thought that things were just loading up slowly on occasion, but I have noticed missing avatars and/or missing names on occasion (on IE7 and Chrome for Windows).

I'm using IE9.

Here is a sample thread: http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2p3sk?What-is-a-Charter-Subscriber

It had a number of posts with no names or avatars. When I copied the link to post here, it displayed all of the names. It appears that the color is different when you don't have an avatar (purple vs gray). However, when I refreshed the screen, the names disappeared again.

This looks to be a problem with the IE7 rendering engine/compatibility mode. I'm not sure exactly what's causing it but for ie8/ie9, turning off compatibility mode by clicking the little divided sheet icon in the address bar should fix that problem. Should make the site a little nicer too. For IE7, I'll be looking into it.

IE9, sir. I should add that it's random. Sometimes the pages load with full names and avatars, other times just avatars and no names.
