Shadow in the Sky is an Awesome Start

I'm running the first campaign I've run in roughly half a decade, using the Second Darkness AP. I'm pretty much sticking with the as-written version of the scenario, but using Pathfinder-converted stats. I've run plenty of Living campaign games over the years, both 4e LFR, 3 and 3.5e LG, and recently some PFS.

We kicked off the AP with the Set-piece from Shadow In the Sky, with the hook being Lymnas Smeed hiring the party through an intermediary. The group wiped out the Splithog Paupers with little trouble.

The second session was this weekend just gone, and we went through roughly the first Act of Shadow in the Sky, up to the encounter with Lymas Smeed (trying not to include spoilers here). And I have to say - what a great adventure! Not only did the party have a great time, the link with Lymas Smeed from the Set-piece actually worked to help the plot along, and keep the players following the desired path. I'm really looking forward to playing the rest of the first part of the AP.

I've read ahead, and I like the look of Children of the Void, but I'm really not sure the party will want to leave Riddleport afterwards! We'll have to see how that goes.

And that's exactly the problem with the AP. Book 1 isn't "bad", but it doesn't work with books 4-6. And book 1 is the only book that features Riddleport, so it's a problem if they really enjoyed it, because they'll never be back, and all that time they used making their home base and getting to know NPCs, wasted.

So you either end up doing books 1-3 (3 will be modified), or 2-6.

or you can do what I did make there some down time in between books and at certain points. You do not have too give them the information on where too go right away because it might need translated and so on and there is plenty of stories not touched upon in riddleport.

For example
-Saul had a son who might want some revenge
-Ziphras might be paranoid that hes been ratted out hehe pun intended.
-If Zincher's still alive he might be moving into your rackets.
-Elias Tammerhawk might want too recruit your help in taking over
- The rotgut ripper is on the loose will he ever be caught??
-Remember each time a gang lord is put down there is always someone too take their place and that might be boss croat.

The lure of skymetal might be enough to get them out. After all, the island isn't that far off, if I recall you can actually see the island on the horizon on a clear day.

If all else fails, have Zincher arrange to have the Gold Goblin burnt down. Then, if they manage to figure out it was him, they'll have a much more interesting dynamic going in Children of the Void.
