Im looking to create a mounted gunslinger archtype for use in a campaign I am in. The character is level 1 so I can't replace any of those abilities. I am currently playing a musket master so I would like this to work with that archtype as well as pistolero. My GM and the other players will scrutinize this heavily as they all expect me to make something that gets rid of the bad stuff and give me free riding feats. While I would like to add some feats, I don't see anything they could reasonably replace.
Please take a look and let me know your opinions. If you come up with names for the abilities or archtype, or other abilities, I'd appreciate those as well.
I'm not looking to get a powerfull mount like an animal companion, just a way to help my abilities on the mount and to give the mounts a reasonable chance to survive area effects and the occasional attack.
Grit
Unnamed ability (Ex): At 7th level, as long as the buccaneer has at least 1 grit point, she gains a bonus on Handle Animal and Ride checks equal to her gunslinger level when mounted or adjacent to a creature that can be used as a mount. If she spends 1 grit point, her and her mounts move do not provoke attacks of opportunity. This replaces the dead shot deed.
Evasive Riding (Ex): At 15th level, when the gunslinger has at least 1 grit point and is mounted, she and the mount gains the benefit of the evasion, uncanny dodge, and improved uncanny dodge rogue class features. She uses her gunslinger level as her rogue level for improved uncanny dodge. This ability replaces evasive.
Non-grit (stolen from rough rider fighter archtype)
Steadfast Mount (Ex): At 2nd level, after a gunslinger has spent 1 hour practicing with a mount, the mount gains a +1 dodge bonus to AC and a +1 morale bonus on saves, but only while the roughrider is mounted on it or adjacent to it. This bonus increases by +1 for every four levels after 2nd. Replaces nimble

Thank zautos. Here it is with a few corrections.

Name for 7th level ability: Rider's Composure/Rider's Calm. (not sure this name hasn't been used already...)
For the archetype: Musket Dragoon/Gunrider/Cavalry Gunner (again, not sure if these have been used)
I like your concept. I'd like a bit of flavour with these abilities to understand them better in context of rider and mount working together. Just the mechanics without flavour make it hard for me to really grok it... ;)

Here is some fluff!
Gunrider
Many Gunslingers learn how to ride and handle mounts in combat, but few do it as well as the Gunrider. A Gunrider uses her mount to move around or through groups of enemy combatants and views her mount as a tool to be both used and maintained.
Relying on her mount for increased mobility, a Gunrider gives up some of her own defenses, In order to increase the survivability of her mount. Unlike a Paladin or Cavalier who form mystical bonds with their mounts, a gunslinger will trade out mounts to serve her needs.

Very nice writeup. I was more interested in the flavour/theme surrounding the 7th level ability, which does two separate things. I'm guessing that while possessed of enough energy and composure the gunrider is more adroit at guiding the mount generally, and if she has enough extra grit she can maneuver herself and her mount carefully through foes in the midst of battle. Very cool now that I think about it...
Mind if I use this in another homebrew archetype?

Not at all. I'm changing a few things based on suggestions from the rest of my group.
The level 7 ability was based off the buccaneers ability to improve acrobatics and climb when swinging from a rope. Riding a mount occurs more often than swinging from a rope so I'm changing it to +1 per 2 levels minimum 1 while mounted or driving(vehicle rules.)
Evasive riding will only grant evasion and only while mounted. (I still think he original version is ok though)
Steadfast mount is ok.
Let me know how it works in your campaign.
